2000 800 popping and backfire

Yes, I did some searches and found some info. Most seem to start, but not everyone post any results. Just thought I'd ask. Stock 800, new snowstuff can. 3 rides with new can and everything has been great. Last weekend rode all day sat, good to go, sat evening little 5 mile ride to the store and back, bad. On the way back it started to pop a little when i got on the gas. Not to bad, but noticable. Back at the cabin and it's really bad. The odd thing is, it starts first pull, always has, idles fine, and even climbs in rpm's to 5000 with no problems. When it hits around 5500 to full throttle, popping and backfire, does not clean up. So far, changed plugs, no change. I am going to clean carbs and have spark plug wires on order, just thought I'd run this by everyone. Thanks in advance.

I have seen this with lean and rich jetting.... Based on the new can, i would do a full throttle run, hit the kill switch and check plugs... if wet and black as i suspect, drop your main jets by 2 sizes and recheck. you can also drop your pins by a slot and see if it helps. popping out of the can is generally RICH jetting... especially if you hit the gas hard and it pops then... Let me know what you find out.

I would agree that it is running rich. I had the exact same problem when my ACCS went out on one of my sleds. It was popping anytime I would get on it. It was obviously super rich because of the huge jets they put in it with those stupid ACCS's.
