2 XM's Found on Frisby, Revelstoke, BC

This past Saturday am I headed up Frisby around 9am. Got to the 3rd steel marker and headed west into a small playzone. Weather was rather foggy as it limited travel. Dropped down a couple benches for some amazing descents in 3++ foot of freshy.
Came to a small meadow an proceeded to climb back out. Got up some speed in the poor vis and thought to myself....."don't hit that rock" As I get closer its not a rock but a set of XM handlebars! Rode around it a couple times to make a stop pad, snapped a pic or 2 and off I went building my "run in" for my Ascent out of this zone. Thought to myself "must have been heck of a walk for someone". Yelled out just to make sure nobody around.
Worked the hill which is rather small (but in 3-4' of Fresh it can be a bugger with the limited vis I had)until I had leapfrogged enough to get a solid run in. As I was coming down one last time, I noticed another sled 50 yards away in the FOG. Rode over to it as well ...A twin XM without rider. Parked near a makeshift overnight Camp. Smoke still billowing out of the Treewell they must have spent the night in. Appeared they just got "too stuck" and decided to spend the night. Helicopter evacuation an hour or so earlier?
Grabbed a couple pics and ripped back to my riding group.
Anyone know if they were injured or not?
Don't drop zones unless you are prepared for some winter camping
Glad they were safe in the end.

Cheers

Randy, any word on what was going on there?

They were plucked via Heli in the morning and not 100% sure on their sleds. Im sure they were ridden out a day or so later. The snow firmed up a tad so with some patience even an XM would have been able to get out ;)

Moral of the story.....accept help and don't drop zones because some dealer told you just bought the mountain sled of the year ;)

Stuck

Heard alot of stories that start with "We dropped in and................."

Well heck - if you're gunna camp out anyway - if you stomp in your path in the evening - you should be able to climb out in the morning after it has had time to set up.

Is that to me?

I spend most of my online time on a machine shop related site these days.
Snowest stripped me of 14K post count, so ....

No - I still ride. Not as much these last several yrs, but by no means gone.
I post occasionally on the skidoo forums. I just wondered out to see if there is life out here...

Climb:

Were you riding alone?
(I am just curious, I'll leave the judging to those guys on the air bag/beacon thread.)

I never ride alone....my crew was just above on the next bench in contact via Radio. Been in there many times and was on a bit of a scouting mission to see if they should all come down. We made the decision not to as it was truly "handlebar" deep in spots.
Thanks for the concerns.
Safe sledding

Seen this a few years back as well where some yammys, bit off more than they could chew, and we needed to make them a route out... It's amazing how a extra 100 lbs shows up after a hard day in the deep, they were burnt out

Ride to your ability, and never alone...

LOL, definetly not a great spot to drop into with just a couple sleds, were they overnight campers and hikers, just using the XM's to get to the snotel??
Maybe the heli just dropped them off there???:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-win

Glad you didn't find any stiff bodies CM.
