2 wheel kits on a Turbo Nytro

Funny you should ask. I have 2 Slydog "Real Cool" boogie wheels sitting in my garage that cost me an afternoon of riding and 2.5 hours of missery getting my sled back to my trailer.

Sidehilling 5 feet up from the trail and felt something like a stuck parking brake symptom. Pulled the sled down to the trail. Started her up and went about 5 feet and felt a thumping sensation. Looked down and 1 boogie busted the bearing out of the center and the other wheel looked like a taco.

I upgraded to billet wheels and haven't had a problem since.

I'm running them inside the rails. No other boogies/idlers on my setup. Just 2 anti-stab wheels in the front.

I have been running billet two wheel kits inside the rails on turbos for a while. Just replace bearings once a year. Love the carving improvements personally.

Hey Punisher,

Is this on your Nytro? What rails/track are you running? Hyperfaxes?

I installed new hyfaxes on mine and they wore thin in only a few rides, and I have 2 bogies per side (timbersled skid, ice age rails w/162).

thanks,

hyfax

did you suck up your limiter strap much? what is your front shock running on the Timbersled?

How tight is your track? that seems to be the culprit on the hyfax...

Two wheel kit

Looking for pros and cons on the 2 wheel kits on a turbo'd Nytro MTX's?

I put on the mountain machines eight inch wheel kit on the inside of the rails and I like the side hilling. I only have one trip on it since I installed the wheel kit though. I didn't have any bad experiences with it, glad I did it.

Limiter is set with no slack in it when sitting on flat ground. Front shock 90psi.

Hmmmm...track is pretty tight. Thats probably it. Thx!!

I'm nervous to loosen my track up too much with my set up. MMP two wheel kit, no bogies, scratchers and limiter strap on hole 4 with 90lbs in the front shock, ice age rails with Polaris hyfax, scratchers and avid drivers. I am nervous I am gonna stab after hearing guys talk about it. Which anti stab two wheel are you running? BDX? Wahl?

I run Wahl on mine, they are all pretty much the same thing...HIGHLY worth it!!!

one thing we have noticed thoguh is a vibration (running stock drivers) when we have loosened the track...but our hyfax last longer than 2 rides now...

might try switching to Avids...(drivers)

most are keeping the tracks banjo tight, but that is a completely inefficient thing to do...So, maybe it is the drivers on these??? we ahve played with the track alignment, and can minimize the vibration, but it is still VERY noticable!!!

Mod,

I'm running a an EzRyde rear 162/Camo Extreme/Ice scratchers about 6" from the rail tips up front...and most importantly Hiperfax.

Yeah sorry, since my timbersled skid, I have not had an issue, but then I altered lots immediately with it...

ski pressure, new skis, simmons snow fins (type of scratcher), went to graphite sliders, loosened track...yes stock track, that is fully clipped, and you can still see the melted plastic from the original sliders on the clips...it was incredible...

other buddy who bought sled at same time I did, only got 50 miles on the original sliders...

Those that have ridden with the 3 and now only 2 inside, what are the pros/cons of the setup? Thanks

My number one complaint about two wheel kits would be the snow that gets tossed at you from the track. In the spring time you will be soaked by the time you get back to the truck.

In a high boost turbo application I really think it is to much strain on only two bearings and It is just a matter of time before they grenade. I run four wheels in the back to prevent this.

If you have tight track tolerances with your tunnel you will see the track wander more side to side on the clips and it will rub your tunnel if the tolerances are less than +/- 1/4 inch.

I personally don't know why people run only 2. You really are not saving much weight. I also would have to disagree with the mushy feeling that it creates on hard pack snow.

sidehilling/carving 'seems' to be a bit easier w/o the outside wheels..

on both my ZX and Rev chassis, not sure why it wouldn't be the same for any other..

But on a boosted sled, the argument changes..theres a lot more tension/torque put on the track.. maybe at lower boost (10-12) it will handle it..for a while.

thats funny how people claim side hilling is easier with out the out side wheels i rode exact same arcticcats with in 5 minutes apart from each other i cant tell the difference at all imo its all for looks and loose a couple of pounds..:beer;

hahaha...yeah, but you're obviously an exceptional tree rider who's superior skills surpass those of everyone else on SW, so its not surprising you would be able to overcome the deficiencies of 2 different sleds in such a short period of time!!
