It looks like you can.
That is the Switchback skid, it looks like the parts I listed below should work OK. Check with your dealer to be sure.

do you need to make any additional conversions to go to 7.25" or 8" wheels instead of the stock 900 wheels. Also i am looking at a used set of 8" billet wheels with 25 mm bearings will those work on the 2009 polaris shaft

No, you can use the 8" wheels in place of the 7-1/4"s with the stock axle as long as you're running the factory tipped rails. The extra 3/8" will hang slightly below the hyfax but the rear of the track/skid is off the ground anyway so it doesn't make a difference. You could spend the $75+ on a conversion axle but it's not necessary....I ran mine for 3 years that way with no issues. As for the bearings, I think stock is 20mm but I believe the OD is the same. You can swap bearings from your stock wheels to make it work. Worst case, you need 2 bearings...they're cheap.

i hate to disagree, but its not a good idea to run it that way...i would personally go with an offset axle to be safe, and right..

the larger wheels will sit below the hyfax...there for the weight and pressure from the rear of the sled would be transferred directly to your wheels and axle...and if you blew an axle that would be a mess for sure...the offset axle will allow the wheel to sit higher and distribute the weight evenly to the hyfax/rails, and the wheels/axle...

Which is why I stated that it should only be done with tipped rails. Straight rails, I agree with you...there would be a lot of pressure on the rear axle. Tipped rails, even with the extra 3/8", the rear of my track was still off the ground when sitting flat. As I said, I ran this way for 3 years and I'm as hard on a rear skid as anyone (see fat guy that likes to jump :D).

And disagree all you like, it's what makes a forum useful. Imagine if we agreed on everything...the only threads with any length would be the "Sean hit another tree" pics thread:lol:
