The article says it took them eight hours to get picked up. That seems like a long time, but I guess it wasnt a life and death situation, but it could have been after that long. Sounds like they should have been more prepared.

Delta rescue

Just fyi to anyone that rides the summit/ paxson area....
That is area is in the delta rescue (emts) response area. If you have a injury or need assistance, do be afarid to call. Granted your are looking at a 1.5 hr reponse time. But it is better to get the wheels rolling, rather than wait and see if you really need help. Also on a 2nd fyi note.
We are in the process of putting a backcountry search and rescue team together. We are still putting the team together and setting up training. We are hoping to be operational by this summer. Anyone interested or question/comments feel free to contact me.

Thanks for the info Demon. That's good to know. What's the number for the Delta responders? My group will put it in our phones, just in case.

911 dispatch out of Fairbanks, which is differernt from 911 dispatch out of Tok. Fbanks is a central dispatch for EMS and AST has a differnt dispatch. Tok 911 is run by AST and the EMS runs on the same dispatch. From what I gather, Tok disptach was notified of the incident, then Tok notified Fbanks.
