2 lost sledders

I've had to stay late on the moutain before not getting back to the trucks till about 8 and it was dark! I couldn't imagine having to stay the night. Hope they find them. Praying for the best

Dang....hope they show up.

Overnight with the gear I carry would be no big deal. But it sounds like they may not be as prepared. Fingers crossed they had some basics and didn't have more to deal with than just being lost in weather.

on a side note....

with my main sled down I will be riding a backup 600 poo most likely this weekend (thanks SkiB). Was honestly thinking about trimming down my pack supplies for weight to almost nothing..cause nothing bad happens. I will not be doing that now.

Well the thought of all this is very sad. The many many things that could go wrong and considering last evenings storm. Holy crap I wouldn't want to survive in my own driveway. It was brutal up here with over a foot of snow and blizzard conditions. I don't pray so I'm hoping for the absolute best for these young guys. :face-icon-small-sad

Reading the update on KSL this morning just makes me even more sad. Lets all hope and pray with the sun out this morning that they are found safe.

I ride the area quite a bit

I've been thinking about these guys for 2 days now. I feel guilty for not being out there on my sled looking for them right now. I'm a decent rider, but I only started sledding last season. After the snowfall from the last 2 days, it has to be really deep out there right now. I don't think I'm a good enough rider to get into the areas these guys might have gone. Two days ago would have been a different story.

I've probably been to the Tower Mountain area 15 or 20 times. I can see how someone could get lost out there. It's about 6 miles from the parking lot to Tower Mountain. There's lots of places to get off the groomed trail on the way up, but they're not the types of places where you would get lost. Once you get to Tower Mountain, it's pretty open with lots of places to play. It seems like the type of terrain that a helicopter could easily spot you in. I don't think I've ever traveled more than 2 or 3 miles from Tower Mountain. I've had machines break down out there and it's a long way back. I really hope Search and Rescue finds these guys today.

Wow -- Long nights for sure , Hopefully by a fireside with a wind block of some kind, ,....God be with them....

Might ride up that way tomorrow near "Mill Hollow", praying there both home before then !!

The weather is very clear up here today and we didn't get any snow last night so hopefully that helped them out. I hope they can find these guys asap

I listened to the news earlier and they were telling everyone to stay away from the area. They did not want any more volunteers. I think this is a mistake! I understand liability and organization....blah! blah! blah! But, I think it would be more wise to ask for as many snowmobilers, who know the area well, as possible to come up and help search the area. If it were me, my family, or friends, I would hope they would have an army out there looking!

Update

I was able to go out on an extra sled this morning with alot or great riders. About 24 went out at 830 and came in about 2. We split up in groups of 3 do to the condition. No sign yet. They do have more and more people going out. They do have a prop plane, the uhp helicopter is still in the sky. We are searching ravines and wooded areas (where people really don't want to go). They did get about 18 inches of snow last night and about 24 since Sunday. It is very deap and very hard to ride in.

They don't mind if very experienced riders come help. You can enter from strawberry or this trail head. If you don't have alot of experiance feel free to bring warm food, plates silverware and napkins. At the moment we are just eating cold samwiches.

Every one please keep them in your thoughts and prayer.

I agree...

With 2 feet of new snow on top I wonder if it might be some sort of slide....Are they focusing on searching for signs of recent slides and surrounding areas? It seems weird that two young guys would be in so much trouble they can't be seen with this nice weather we have today.

Hoping for the best

Thought the same, but hopefully that isn't the case. Here's to keeping the blue skies, and hope for the best outcome!

Anyone with experience and all of the gear is welcome and very much appreciated. Don't listen to S&R and what other people are saying. The more ground that can be covered the better. These are my good friends and they need to be found ASAP.

Ditto that...you shouldn't call off a search.
