2 cool vent kit install question

Are you guys drilling holes or cutting the whole section out on your side vents? im sitting in the garage looking at this wondering whats the better route to go, they say holes for durability but is it enough air flow? 15 min and counting before I cut im just wondering if anyone noticed a difference either way cutting holes... or cutting out the sides in the shape of the vent frame

I drilled holes keeping them between the reinforcing ribs. Keeps the panel strength. I varied the hole size depending on the amount of space between the ribs, bigger holes where there was lots of space between ribs, smaller holes where the ribs were closer together. I've seen some vents break when the the ribs were compromised.

Cool thanks guys I figured holes i have every hole saw made which thats what the instructions say I just didnt know if the other way would be better, thanks again:D Im off to cut up my m8:D

Just got my 2cool vents today and I'm a bit gun shy about puting holes in my M8- I will begin the carnage tomorrow

I hear ya m8 meg. i need to get a couple different sizes I thought I had tomorrow, and its probably a stupid question but does anyone know if you can get rid of the insulation on the insides of the panels or do they need to stay and drill through those as well so it can still serve its purpose?? I have to drill tomorrow so im installing my skidplate tonight instead... So could someone let me know about the inside pads on the sides, thanks

I used a 2" hole saw and put as many holes inside the open areas in the vent frame as would fit. I left the circular rib on the clutch side for strength and I think got just one less hole in that area. I also removed the heat shield in both panels. Happy sawin.

Lose all the insulation but you probably want to keep the plastic beside the primary. When the sled rolls on it's side the bolt in the primary will go through the vent. The rotating clutch can wreak havoc on the vent material. There should be a rib that's in like a half circle or something close to that that's about the size of the primary. I wouldn't cut inside that IMO. Relax and cut away. If you screw it up those side panels are only about 30 bucks so it's not a major loss if that makes you feel any better.

BigHoe is absolutely right! On the M Sleds - our instructions state to leave the horseshoe shape on the clutch side totally alone! That is where your clutch will run when you carve hard and if you put holes for the vents there, you WILL get a hole in your prefilter material!

Holesaw is always the way as the vents are not meant to take the place of the plastic for the stability of the side panels.

Glad to read you all cut holes instead of cutting the entire thing out! :)

:) 2fun
