Unfortunately, no pics, but absolutely EPIC ride on Friday. Snowing HUGE sticky flakes all day. Came across two locals that live near Boulder creek full time and one said that they received 38" of snow in 24 hours. Given the conditions (sled was mostly a submarine), don't doubt thier word. JUst a note that there was an avy at this point. It came off Davis peek, filled up the Cle Elum river valley and blew snow & trees all the way over the 4330 road. Not sure if cabins damaged but know it came VERY close to at least one...

Yes the slide did get one of the cabin, lots of damage but not destroyed, no one hurt, got emailed pic's last night. i think it was a good weekend to stay home. Also heard that a big one come down on the second creek crossing on Fortune. Will now more Tuesday.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as I have one of those cabins. (Sh!t)

I know that this has happened many years ago, and I have been worried about this same situation.

As for the local you spoke to, was he a tall fella with a red beard or Grandma & Grandpa?

thanks

Maxman, you called it.

Spoke with two different locals. One older gentleman with a red beard and another with a couple of friendly k-9's (one a pit-bull)...

Hope your cabin was not hit...

The cabin that was hit was on the river side of the road... His place was fine as the avy didn't travel that far. The avy path was about 100 - 150 yards south of the Boulder Creek bridge....

mtnsldr - wasn't there a cabin for sale in that area last summer? Do you know what it went for? I'm curious as stuff doesn't come up too often in the area. At our cabin up on Cooper Lake we got offers taped to the door about twice a year. The last one was $500k and we could use it whenever we wanted.

I was up there on Sat. That avy was incredible! I'm a long time backcountry skier in WA (but pretty new to sledding) and in all my experiences I have never seen one quite like that. Appears to have been a powder avy, as opposed to our normal slab and wet type. Difference is that there was very little deposition, but a lot of damage. I didn't notice any damage to any cabins, but the slide appeared to just barely miss one of the one on the river side of the road. Did you happen to hear when it occured. We were guessing Thurs night or Fri morning.

I met an older guy with a red beard a few weeks ago up there. We helped him put a snomo track in to his cabin, which was on the opposite (east) side of the road, just before the bridge. If that's where your cabin is, you've got no damage.

BTW - I'm interested in buying something up there, preferably on the E side, away from the road. Would greatly appreciate a heads up (PM) if you happen to hear of somebody wanting to sell.

We were at out cabin at Driftwood Acres fri. morning and could hear avy's going off up the vally. We stayed down low and had plenty of fun not worring about death. Hope your cabin's OK.

mtnsldr your cadin is o.k. the slide crossed the river upover the road about 15'to 20' deep a good 200' runout. trees and branches everywhere. but the BIG SLIDE is on the 170 (fortune creek) the first creek crossing 60 to 70 yards wide, you have to see it to believe it. Same slide come down 4or 5 year ago, this one is twice the size, cleared trees from the ridge top the runout crossed the valley and turned right masive slide. Took pics will try to post them later. Looks like every hill that could slide did in the last week.

well thats the best news I've heard in a long time. Puts me at rest a little better. I need to get up there to do some shoveling.
As for places 4 sale, yes, there was one place for sale down by little boulder about 1/4 mile from the slide, that is/was owned by the Langham family. I get that all the time, if a place comes up I will post it for sure. Being off the road has its advantages as you can see. We get letters in the mail all the time, I have no idea how these people track us down. As for as the locals in the area, everyone seems to get along for the most part.
glad to see no one got hurt.

How was the road going into the cabins that needed to packed down? I'm surprised I haven't got a call to go break trail into the upper cabins.
