2.6 Track losing lugs

I have seen a thread or two on here about complaints on durability of the 2.6 track and I kind of took it with a grain of salt. Mine has been missing lugs for quite some time now and I attributed it to early season riding. But it seems like it just KEEPS losing lugs. In fact, while riding down the trail in West last weekend, my fiance said she is pretty sure she saw one come off! I bet I have 12-15 lugs at least at this point that are either missing or mostly have a chunk taken out of them. MOst of them are on the edge of the track but I noticed while riding yesterday that there is at least one center lug missing a chunk with no apparent damage in front of that lug or behind it.

I'm not screaming warranty on this, although I would take it if Polaris offered. I'm just wondering if others are having the same issue. I'm to the point that I will probably run it through next season but then I'll HAVE to do something with it. Don't know if I should buy another polaris 2.6 track, polaris 3" track, or a camoplast.

Please weigh in

Mine 2.6 is still in tact. I do know that our regional polaris rep was asking my dealer if there were issues. The rep said they are noticing a lot of 2.6's coming apart

Would I be better off contacting polaris directly to see if there is a recall/warranty or anything on the track? Or going to the dealer? I hate pestering my dealer. He has been good about everything so far (TPS adjustment/primary clutch spring), just don't wanna be "that" guy if you know what I mean. I know I ride harder than most and I realize that stuff breaks, but there is a guy I ride with that rides just as hard as me on his '14 pro and seems to not care as much about what he snags the track on that isn't missing as many lugs as I am. In fact, looking at his sled a couple different times on the deck, I don't see ANY lugs missing

I'd log a case with Polaris...the more they know about the issues the better the chance of all of us getting tracks with issues taken care of.

Albeit, my 2.6" looks pretty much like new with ~500 miles...except for the fraying edges on the track which I hear is pretty common!

Talked to my dealer and he said to take some pictures and he will send them in to Polaris. He said they will probably just say I'm riding it down the hard pack too fast.....but I rarely go above 40-45 mph and never sustained I rarely even go that fast because I'm up and down all the time and not just booking it on the trail.

Here are the pictures. There are 10 lugs ripped all total. 8 of which I could buy I hit something hard (I won't argue whether the track SHOULD have ripped or not, although I believe it shouldn't have). The other two, one in the middle of the track and one on the right edge don't look like they hit anything. There is no visible damage that I can see at either the lug in front of them or the lug behind them. Tell me your thoughts

You're hard on ****. The reality is when a track is spinning 40 mph and ground speed is stuck or barely moving, you aren't going to feel the track hitting everything. Sometimes I'm amazed that the tracks actually put up with some of the abuse I throw at them.

Lol ok I accept the fact that I like the go juice (the mechanic that did my TPS adjustment said he was amazed at the amount of time I spent WFO lol), but the two that are by themselves that don't show damage on either side of them amaze me.

If I were to replace this track, what would be better/more durable? Seems nobody really likes the x3.2 on these things...

I wonder if the impressive power delivery of these sleds is stressing the tracks more than people realize. When I ride my Axys back to back with a previous model year, the difference is huge. The Axys seems like it can effortlessly spin the track with a blip of the throttle. Anyway I wondered if this could be a contributing factor to peoples track problems.

Hard know on this. I have some chunks missing that are rather strange like you took a knife and carved a round piece out of the paddle in the center. Will take pics tomorrow when I get it in the garage.

Make sure you get pics of the lugs in front and back of it so we know if they are damaged as well or not. Like I said, I think the ones on the side are no fluke because you can see other scars where the bounced off of stuff. but the center one and the one on the right show no other visible damage anywhere on the track

Pretty sure thats WFO throttle and buried rocks/trees/stumps. You are hard on stuff!! :face-icon-small-win

The track is lighter than past tracks and seems to spin faster. Combine that with buried objects and something has to give. In this case the track. I dont think these tracks would fail like that just going up and down the trails.

Im missing quite a few lugs myself. I know of one rider who was missing 28 lugs. He upgraded to the polaris 3" and so far has overheated a few times and has a few chunks and splits on the 3". He thinks the 3" trenches more than the 2.6.

Personally I will be replacing with another 2.6" when the time comes. The axys was designed around that track and it works really well. I do wish it would hold up better but I contribute by hopping creek bottoms, jumping logs, stumps, rocks, and riding this sled like its supposed to be ridden :)

Haven't lost any lugs really but my 2.6 tore like this... Polaris says no warranty.

I had my FTS spring walk loose at 400 miles, the spring retainer bobbed around and put a couple small gouges on the inside of the track, and the spring galled up the threads on the shock body. I went in and made a warranty claim hoping for the best. I picked the sled up later that week with a brand new 2.6 track and a new front track shock. Hard to believe Polaris won't cover a tear like that. Unacceptable in my eyes at 1800 miles without a suspension issue causing it...
