2.5 Extreme vs. Powerclaw?

I know this may have been beat up already but I am looking for real, honest answers from guys in AK who have owned (and ridden on) both tracks. The snow in AK is different of that in the lower 48 west. We have predominantly wetter snow than those of you in the lower 48 west. I want to know who has ridden both tracks and what the highlights and downfalls are of either track. I have only owned the 2.5 Extreme and that track is pretty hard to beat. I am considering the switch to the powerclaw, but want real world experience from legit people... NOT B.S.! Only those who have owned both need chime in! Thanks.

I would give brad down a anchorage suzuki arctic cat a call, He's pretty damn knoligable about this kinda stuff and will give you an honest no BS answer. number is 272-2412

I have ridden the camo x...ridden with and observed the pc in action on the same hills as the camo....I ordered my new camo-x from Curt at Fastrax(he used to live here and comes back to ride yearly)...he agreed with me that up here in most of our conditions the camo is better....

tracks

:face-icon-small-hapWe rented a m8 last winter and made a trip to revy. 4 of us rode it, nice machine but that powerclaw would just toboggan down steep hills and was harder to control. Two of the machines with us were m8's also with camos the seemed to climb about the same.

I've heard the exact same thing; otherwise I'd be putting a PC under my M8 this year.

It's interesting that it is that big of a difference, I wouldn't have expected those answers.
I've got 3 powerclaws, and had 2 camo extremes. When comparing them side by side here, the difference was surprisingly the exact opposite of what you guys saw, but this was in CO powder & high alpine windblown snow, so, totally different conditions.

The PC is a great track but it is very fast coming down hill if you have to follow a track or are on hard pack, almost scary some times. I think it will out climb the extreme in the soft stuff.

I think the stopping ability is all in the perspective of the rider - after trying to stop my TApex with the Maverick an TM1000 with the powerclaw was a dream come true. In somewhat tracked conditions I never noticed a stopping problem...

As for Camo vs PC - I believe the PC trenches less in the deep - have one on order over the CE.

i know that colorado snow is different but i like the camo for riding the full season the pc stays on top a little better in the lite powder but in heavy powder it seems to fold over more like the attk 20 the only other problem is the pc does not stop on pack snow one of my friends almost wadded up his sled coming back down after a climb
hope this helps

I have not experienced the down hill braking trouble, But I really don't ever ride hard packed snow.

My vote is for the Camo Extreme, if the PC is anything like the Maverick coming down is scary especially on a heavy boosted machine.

Our snow is coastal powder with a high water content.
Fluff today, tomorrow set up powder/thick deep snow.

In other words, our 5 foot of fresh packs to 3 feet compared to day Utah where 5 feet packs to 18 Inches.

2.5 Extreme for you.
In fact, for most conditions, a good old challenger pattern is good all around.
Finger tracks got popular in spring, but anything works in spring.
Plus the Extreme and Normal Challenger patterns have better braking, and in the spring with wet slushy high water content snow when its 70 degrees out, it helps.
I want a 3 inch normal Camo Challenger pattern.

I love the PC on my 09 M8 in Idaho and I had the challenger for 2 years on another sled. The PC climbs much better and I have not had this downhill braking problem that everyone speaks of.
