2,3 or 4 wheels on a Boosted Nytro?

Q#1, Just want to know what you guys are running. My buddy just came back from the sled show in Edmonton (I HATE HIM:mad:) and he said all the turbos/SC there were running 2 wheel kits, But i am sure i remember reading a post on here and everyone was running 3 and 4 wheel kits on there boosted sleds. 1st year on a boosted sled not 100% sure where I will set the boost level (Don't want to have something like this to prevent me from turning it up to say 20+#).
Q#2, wheels Powder coated or not?

This is what i am running this year:
08 Nytro
IMPULSE RACE KIT w/prologger (Rods and pistons)
Shockwave, Supertips
full timber Sus. w/ice age rails.
A20 162x15 (i know it should be a C/E)
New seat from Montlyone.

I have 3 wheels on 2 of them are billet (outside ones, using the stock black center wheel)

Any thoughts?:beer;:beer;

I've run 2 wheels on my turbo for several years. I took out 1 bearing last year so now I just put in new ones each year for the 10 bucks it costs other wise no issues.

since you are running the Race Kit I assume you plan on running BIG Boost. I would stick with 3/4 wheels.

I run at 12 lbs of Boost so i think i will be ok with 2. I hope :)

Yeah, for us with HP deprivation [due to elevation], and sub 250 HP, I think 2 wheels should get us by.

17+... I'd personally carry an extra wheel or two in the truck.

Ya, 2 will be fine for the 250ish HP range, but if you ride in lower elevations and have Big Boost, I would go with 4. D

You will be fine with three wheels.

Until you get rid of that A20 track there is no point turning the boost up to high it will fold those paddles over so easy it will be like riding around on a bologna skin track, even in hill climb position. Just my 2 cents.

That is a lot of force on two small bearings. I personally run 4 wheels. I would rather be able to swap them around a bit if I loose 1 or 2 and still be able to make it off the hill.

Your really not saving much in weight by dropping one wheel.:beer;

I run 3. The image in my head of my sled standing on it's tail, leaning to one side with 250 - 300 hp spinning the track keeps me from trying to run 2. After all, what would it gain other than laying over a little easier. if I was worried about it laying over easier I would run a 15 wide instead, but still 3 wheels. If one wheel or bearing were to fail I can still rig it with 2 good ones to the outside to get out.

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies:beer; But none of you said anything about Q#2 Powder coated or not?

As for the A20 well what can i say it was free (traded it for a seat cover i didn't need) and i will be running it in HC position. i will have a new tunnel and 174x15x2.5/3.0 M10 next winter.

Well, yeah, that is the real gain to 2 wheels. :P

If tracks were a bit cheaper, I'd definately "try" a 15" wide, but its not that easy/cheap now days.

And a 2 wheel kit setup is much cheaper to 'try'..and may be all I need.

My wheels are reverse powder coated, and the color is holding up well, no chips or scratches yet. Got my wheels from tricked toys, they have nice stuff.

The 2 wheel setups don't roll up any easier than 4. I don't know how that got started but it got to be quite the selling point for these kits

I used to go through the plastik wheels (Bend the wheels) -- stock 3 wheel set up and went to 4 that worked well.
Now I am trying 3 evenly spaced billet wheels inside the rails we will see how that works. Hopefully the rails will somewhat protect the wheels from getting bend and with 3 of them they should handle the load fine.

Here's my opinion, 2 wheels is ok if your riding like you paid for it, 3-4 wheels are necessary if your ridin'er like you stole'er! so to sum things up, Leeroy you need 3-4 wheels!!

but seriously when your running two wheels and start landing off camber and wheeling all the time its alot of force on just two wheels, also if you only have two and you loose a bearing in one your ****kt. I personaly run 4 wheels, I am sure 2 wheels would work just fine just hate to wreck a track over the sake of a couple of wheels.

As far as powder coat i'd go with anodizing its lighter and won't flake off like powder coat does just better!
