looking into sledding in snowies. Not familiar with area in winter. Hunted several times northwest of Laramie. Probably renting sleds? is a guide recommended? Where to stay, where to avoid?

Try Ryan Park

We have really enjoyed Ryan Park. There is a lodge up there called the rendezvouz that has great food and clean rooms. You can visit them at www.rendezvouslodge.net

You can gas up on site as well. If they dont have lodging there are a couple more options in Ryan Park.. Ask the rendezvous for options. You can also stay in Saratoga but then you will have to trailer up to ride. I guess it is whatever you like.

The centennial side is nice as well. There are a few more options there. Avoid the Snowy Mountain lodge like the plaque. I have heard good things about the Old Corral but have never stayed there myself.

I have stayed at the Old Corral many times. I would highly recommend it. Ken takes such good care of you and his prices are decent ( just ask him for the snowest discount. He has a resturant there that has awesome food. You cannot rent sleds there however.

I have never stayed at Albany Lodge but have heard good things about it and they rent sleds there.

Heard good things about these two lodging spots too.

Stayed at Mountain Meadow. Good place, they cabins have a stove so you can bring your own food. Bring beer, cuz you will not find any close...

And the people that run Mountain Meadow are nice people. THe closest place for food is SNowy Mountain Lodge, which is kinda pricy. But if you do not want to make your own food, is about the only option in the area.

check out the website

The website for the rendezvous does list that they do rent sleds but I would call and ask them to make sure. Hope you have a good trip. The snowies is my favorite place to sled.

Couple questions.
How much experience do you have sledding?
What kind of sledding do you want do?
A guide can make the difference between an "ok" ride and an awsome ride. The guide can help you get to areas most people never see.

Thanks Ollie, You guys can get ahold of me, I have opening this weekend, but not again until the middle of March, and then nothing after that. Snow was awesome all weeknd where I took my guys this weekend. All three days snow was 3-4" deep.

What does a trip run? your website wasn't working for me.
Having problem with the website, so you can check out the myspace, everything is on there. But it runs $65.00 per day per person for a day. Discounts on 4 or more days. Also if you need rentals Maverick Motorsports gives a 25% discount if you use my service, so a day of sledding and rental runs about the same price as normally just renting a sled and we will take you places others don't know of! If there is any good snow on the mountain, we know where to find it! Don't think just because the frontside is all tracked up there aren't untracked areas.

Thanks bud, nice pic of you flying Sunday. I will let you guys know when it snows again for sure. See ya soon. Oh and love the team moto! Just one more!!!!!! HAHA:D

Thanks to all for the references and the info. A guide would be great, small price to pay for finding the "good" riding areas.

Hey snocross... Will you take me there?? I need to start all over on learning how to snowmobile!! The video that we shot this past weekend will show you why!! How's the hood coming?
Haha! What happened David? I got one twisted a$$ bulk head on mine now, but not going to fix it till it breaks in half! Painting it tonight hopefully, def by the weekend.
