Yes ,I know Cat builds a M1000 and an M8. I wanted this one in 05 but didn't sell my 1M900 until late last year. So I stayed the course because of my limited budget.
Anyhow the build was fun. The Boondocker was easy to wire and the Digitron was also easy to hook up once I knew about the wire +/- plug in under the head lights.
I heat sheilded and heat taped everything I thought might melt.

I haven't got the Boondocker quite dialed in yet , only 3000,5000,6000 and 6700 rpm, still have to do 7200,7600 and 8300 rpm ranges. My dealer has me almost right on with the clutching. All I did was change secondary spring and Helix but will know when I test in the higher rpms and in some deep snow conditions with a load.

With my budget this build started with a used 05 limited M7 400kms on it. I was thinking of an M5 with a good used race mod bigbore from Speedwerx, almost went that route but engine deal fell threw in the 11th hr.

Did this for around $11000.00 Cnd . A lot of the mods off ebay and saved $$$ .

Bikeman 800 bigbore, Fat azz pipe and Y pipe, front torque arm brackets. Slp muffler, V-force reeds, D&D fuel presure system, Boondocker efi box, Digitron egt, 2" handle bar riser, Fastlane side vents and clutch vent.Boss seat, Doo racing hood straps (a must have), snoeliminators, Simmons skis, fox floats, hood bag, Lots of stickers from Canadian tire and old sled stickers which I had laying around, custom painted hood rib to match Boss seat. I now see why guys sell to start another project. Very rewarding build for a back yard mechanic like me. Hope she stays together, it seems very good so far.
Need to get it out ,maybe this weekend, a bad year for snow but now hearing good reports of snow at Summit and Atlin B.C. which I built this thing to ride at. Under 5000 feet, nice rolling hills and valleys nothing to rad but awesome powder. I've left some good Highmarks, but not really into that.
I'll send some action pics once she's dialed in.

Later,
WV

I had more fun and frustration building my sled from the ground up. If you are half way handy, you can save yourself the labor costs. Would I do it again? Deffinately! Good looking sled man.
