1997 Arctic Cat ZRT 600?

I was shopping for a trailer and ended up with a '97 ZRT 600 (and 95 XLT Poo) AND a trailer. It's a nice looking sled and has around 3000 miles on it. So, now it looks like I'm going to clean up a Cat and sell her when the snow flies. I need some information from the experts...

What was the stock track? Doesn't look like a 121"
What are areas of concern with these sleds?
Are they as fast as I've heard?
Where is the best place to get CHEAP parts...skis, cover, etc?

Put the ZRT in the garage tonight to start cleaner her up....WOW that thing RIPS!!! Took a couple runs in the field and I was amazed at it's power! The first thing my wife said to me was "NO you can't keep it!" :face-icon-small-ton

3045 miles on it, track is in perfect shape. The hood has scratches and scraps but doesn't have any cracks...I wish I could say the same for my M8. The seat is the only think that I might replace.

Still hoping for some input from you Cat experts!
 
Far as I know all zrt's were shortys. They hold there own against stock 700 twins. I have a powder extreme with the same triple in it, its fast when its in the right state off tune. Good luck, I'm not much help others will chime in I'm sure. Watch FleaBay for cheap parts
 
Yeah, after a better look, it looks like a 121". It was pulling the skis off the ground with a little flick of the throttle.

I'll post some pictures of the progress...I think it will be a nice looking sled when I get done making it pretty. :)
 
121 stock. alot of them ended up with 136 inchers from the pow extreme.
they are insanely fast for their age and weight.
hard to keep them tuned and they have primary trouble just like all other cats. pull the plugs and take a good look at them to make sure its not running lean. It would wax your M8 on the trail for sure but they are not so good in the fresh. it would be cool to road ride it until there is enough snow to ride the M:face-icon-small-coo

In North Idaho we have an AMAZING trail system...just 5 minutes from my house...and I would love to keep as a "Night Rider". Maybe nobody will buy it and I'll have to keep it. :)

Thanks for the info. The guy I bought it from just have the carbs services, I would "HOPE" it was dialed in. Plugs looked clean after I ran it through the field.

Just to confirm some info and add... they're a little bit of a chore to keep tuned and to jet. Other than that and they're weight, they're actually a decent performance sled. A 136" upgrade is pretty popular, but there is also alot of them on the market (look at KSL.com) so its hard to get good money for them. With a 136", they do just fine in powder... dont let that worry ya'. I've always kept one around for a loaner and early/late season sled. Theyre built strong (steel) so while theyre heavy... they can take hits from rocks/stumps/trees that newer sleds cant. (TRUST ME... I know!) As far as what to look for... check your drive axle bearings. 3 ZRTS i've owned needed attention there. Check the "torque limiter" motor mnt, they like to crack/break. Motor mnts as well. Have the primary inspected/serviced and I would give the rear suspension a good look. Plastic skis, a 136", handle bar risers, and a "mtn fit" hood make a HUGE difference if you keep it... and I have TOOOONS of parts if you need anything!
