1996 Summit needs more track

I'm tossing around the idea of putting a little more track under the loaner sled, a 1996 670 summit that still has the factory 136 track. The factory track only has 1.6" lugs. Does anyone know if a 2" lug will fit or do I need to trim the lugs down a bit? Really don't want to mess with a drop and roll or smaller drivers. Can the skid on that be set back a full 4" for a 144" track or should I invest in some rail extensions?
Thanks for the help!

Like backcountry said. 2" wont fit. Setback alone seems to put stress on other parts. Did that on a 97 and started to tear bolts out of the tunnel. There are some pretty cheap rail ext out there.

I did a D/R and a skid relocate on a 97 and have had no problems with tearing the tunnel. I DID move the re-enforcing plate though. I have a suspension from an 01 HM and it's stretched out to a 151". I moved the front mounts 1" down and 1" back and moved the rear mount 1" back and 2 1/2" down and love the handling of the sled.

Kinda depends on how far you want to go for a loaner sled.

I put a 2" with a very small D&R (about 3/4" home made) with 9 tooth drivers with a 2"set back and a extension kit and put a 159 x 16 wide on it. Suspension is out of a 04 REV 151. Works great--Has more than enough power with clutching and gearing to run with most 800's on the snow (Not all). Awesome set up--but took some work--More than I would put into a loaner sled.

My advice--buy extensions--cut track--add tunnel extension and call it good!!

that is where I'll probably end up going. Fortunately I can fab up the rail extensions and tunnel ext at work. Just need to find a track!

I put a 2" 144 on my 96' summit. I did a home made D&R over the summer. A D&R is a lot of work, but it was summer and I had time. The new track was a huge improvement over the stock track. I loved that sled.

Like H2O said: extensions, track and tunnel extension and be done. 1 3/4 tall lug will just barely rub with stock 9 tooth drivers (the 99 Summit X had 1 3/4 with shaved down 9 tooths).
