1995 ski-doo summit 670 jetting

I currently have a 1995 ski doo summit 670 in cherry condition (1500 miles). The HAC still works, but from what i've read it is inevitable that the HAC will go out. I have found information on jetting my sled like a 1997 ski doo mxz. it calls for a 7edy1 needle. this needle is no longer available and i am having a real difficult time tracking down used ones. Looking at the list of needles the one directly above it is a 7ecy1 ( i think this means richer) which i was able to track down brand new. Seeing as the needles are very close should these work okay. i live in the rocky mountains often riding at 8000' + with an average temp between 10-35 degress F.

PS: I am new to these forums and would really appreciate any input. i tried searching for similar threads and found nothing that answered my question exactly. If there is already a thread on this topic id love a link. Much appreciated.

Steven

Welcome to the forums! You have touched on a subject many here know very little about. I have been down your road, I do not have my notes, so I can't remember the exact specs. Look into the 670 Formula SS, and compare jetting, that's what I used as my base line reference. I do not remember what needle I ended up with. I think you should be very close. Just be sure to do proper plug/seat of the pants/tone checks. Again, welcome aboard and keep in mind it is still summer so things move a little slow on the boards.

I have done a hac delete on a 500fan , same concept... I left needle the same but changes clip position and rejetted pilot jet and my mains, then capped my carb hac lines and pulled the hac all out and plugged the hole in the airbox. It ran a ton better and no problems since. go to dootalk and search for my posts about
2001 Summit 500f HAC removal..

I cut and paste this info from somewhere else but it might help you out...

Anyone have a chart showing the jet settings for certain temps and altitude?
I need the settings for a 1995 Formula SS 670 at high altitude (8000-10000
feet). Any info would be appreciated.

The settings for 8000 feet are:
mainjet PTO/MAG 290/300
Needle position 2
Pilot jet 50
Air screw 3/4 turn
Needle Jet z-9 (224)

Leave everything else alone.

For 10,000 feet switch mainjets to 270/280 PTO/MAG
These settings are for -4F or -20C If the temp rises to 14F, drop
mains one size, if it goes to 0F drop one more size. Anything in
between, make a choice - run a little bit lean or a little bit rich.

These values are taken from the Ski-doo high altitude manual.

found 7edy1

well after doing some hard looking on ebay i did actually find a set of 7edy1 needles. my plan is to run these needles with a PTO:210 and a MAG: 190. i will have both the 7edy1 needles and a set of 7ecy1 needles. i think ill choose the 7edy1 needles due to the fact that a 1997 ski-doo mx z 670 used them. any other thoughts, and thanks everyone for the replies.

which needle would work best with this setup?

Sickbuild- the 1995 formula ss specs are way rich. Every year skidoo leaned out the 670 motor. The 98 specs are even leaner. I have setup two 670 summits. One with 170 180 and the other with 190's. Both run great! Steven's sled will be dialed

It is a huge jump...I also believe the 1995 Formula SS had factory twin pipes. That is why its so much richer than the rest. Need to double check. Its been a few years :)

i received my 7edy1 needles today and they were heavily bent and worn. i am still on the search for these needles now so any lead would be helpful. otherwise i will probably just try the 7ecy1's.

thx again
