1994 Featherlite - Good trailer?

Looking at a 1994 Featherlite enclosed trailer. I know the newer ones are suppose to be one of the best trailers made. How were the older ones? It has new tires and all the lights and brakes work. Anything a guy needs to worry about on an enclosed that is almost 20 years old?

alot of the older trailers were only 8' wide not 8'6" like the newer models. i just bought a 1995 4 place clamshell floe, all aluminum. and it still looks like new, needed a floor but the orig plywood was 20 yrs old!

if its all aluminum.... check for cracking welds, and the steel axles will rot away, amd of course check out the floor.

I though all Featherlites were all aluminum, but the owners says it has a steel frame. Not as good a deal as I thought it was.

hmmm crazy. yeah i thought all featherlights were all aluminum too, umm hence the name featherlight, haha, unless its some sort of miracle machine, i'd probably stay away from a 20 year old steel trailer. i only gave $2700 for my 1995 floe all aluminum 20' 4 place clam shell and its in great condition, i spent $85 on 5 new sheets of plywood for the floor now she is like brand new!

What is the size and asking price? If it's $1500 or less it's a good deal.

Like earlier mentioned, check axles, look at the tire wear, check wheel bearings, look at the wiring. Do the trailer brakes work? Hook it up and take it for a drive. Does it track behind your truck well?

The thing is with trailers is that they are all just boxes on wheel. They don't evolve unless you start running heaters, tools, lights and blingy crap. For the price of new ones you can "upgrade" the old one the way you want and still have money left over.

I recently painted mine, added a side door and am in the process of wire brushing the frame and axles and spraying a rubberized undercoating (Summer work now). The plywood is solid but can stand to be replaced. You can always put some new flooring on over the wood, or exterior carpet.
