1980 Enticer 250D - no start.

Alright I'll try and describe this and look for help on this forum first!

Sled was running great - 2 pull start, sometimes 3.

Let it sit for a week and a half and decided to go for a tear after a snow.
Wouldnt start. So I pulled the spark plug and replaced it fresh. Kept pulling, no go....pulled the spark plug and its wet (gas smell etc) so its getting fuel. Maybe I'll drain it and check for water? OK, so I thought the kill switch was fubar, and I checked it over and it looked buggered....so I cut those two wires and then twisted them together (figure I'll use the key until I get a new kill switch).....so the black wires to the kill switch are twisted together. Still, no joy.

My question is how do I check for spark - I'm assuming its not getting it. I did change the coil once cuz the other one was buggered, it ran great after that. Someone told me to pull the CDI box pull a couple times then plug it back in....anyhow, this should be fun.

To check the spark, just leave the plug in the cap and let the bottom of the plug rest on a metalic part of the head, might need a friend to help hold it (make sure he has gloves and that the spark plug boots are in good shape.. zing... doesn't feel to good)

I hope you figure it out. When I was a little dude, I use to tear around on one of those things.. thought it was a pig till dad found out it was running on only one cylinder..:D I loved the fact that I could start it by myself... and get it unstuck by myself too... wow, that was fun...

Don't know for sure, but are you sure the kill switch is a normally closed switch? My 2008 Nytro is a normally open. If that is the case, then you need to undo the wires. I don't know on this...... though it might be something to test, cause if it runs with the two wires tied together, you will know your answer..

Just found a wiring diagram that can also help me figure out what is what. The wires look like theres a pound of grease on them from over the years...should I spray with WD-40 or maybe electrical contact cleaner?

cover up all important stuff really good and use an air compressor, just don't force the nasty bits into important things..

Best would be to get a couple of roles of paper towels, and give the kid a job to do...

Anyone else have any ideas? Normally a stator test is a simple resistance test.. not sure on how to test coils though.
