1977 yamaha exciter 440...need help****

What is my problem guys? I have a 77 exciter 440 that runs when i squirt some gas into the carb..but then dies when the gas i squirt in is gone...i can see the gas going up the main line from the fuel pump and to the carb because my gas line is clear...im stumped and any advice would be appreciated..thanks

Carb

Replace pilot jets, clean everything else inside carbs, clean and check inlet valve, try again! Check compression for at least 115lbs (rather see 130) at sea level. Drain all old gas, replace with fresh. Try shooting some two stroke oil in each cylinder. Also put Sea Foam in fresh gas.

You need to clean the inside of the carb really good, replace jets and needle and seat if needed. You are not seeing gas going threw the fuel line. You are seeing the gas bounce around in the fuel line. And as said above drain all old gas and start with fresh gas.

Good luck and let us know what you find :face-icon-small-hap

Once you do what everyone else mentioned, blow into the tank. I know it sounds funny, but use your hands to cup off the tank and blow into it creating pressure. You might need to get the fuel line to start feeding. I've done this on rebuilds and it works well.
