For anybody who has switched to 19/46 gearing on their 12' pro 800 163 as their only mod, what did you notice? Better, worse, or the same. Thanks

Holy Cow, Batman!!! 19/46??? Thats. 2.42:1 , thats quite a change from the 2.1:1 stock. Are you sure you don't mean 19/42 (2.21:1)? Will a 46 even fit in there?

I don't know if it would fit or not. Heard it was being tried, so I thought i would ask about it. You would think it would be 19/42, but who knows.

Last year, ran 19/45, a different helix and weights as recommended by TRS on here.

Really happy how it pulled the 163" track in deep heavy Tahoe snow.

Kept belt temps at more manageable levels, recovered better in on off throttle applications.

Will run it again this year.

being on a 12 assault my geared top speed would well exceed my tracks ability to hold it self togeather, whats stock gearing top speed like 91? my track says it well start self destruction at around 80mph.

i threw a 19 inplace of the 20 mid season (left stock on the bottom) it was a nice little difference and i can feel the engagement being different, different roll on.
like murph also in wet heavy tahoe snow and its a huge help.
When it comes down to it, if you dont need the top end speed, gear your self down and go easy on your belt and clutch, they well thank you in time.
and with clutching you can make the most of it.
spend the money on clutching to, its more than worth it

80mph on hardpack... 80mph in soft snow... IMO.. not a problem.

19-46... I dont believe it would be possible... and you would probably need a custom chain if it were.

19/46

Ran 19/45 on Turbo and nonturbo pros all last year. A few ran the 46. You don't usually use over 75 mph on any mountain sled.

Robbie,

Did those people you mention run the 46 lower on the stock 2011/12 Polaris chaincase or on your billet chaincase?

I believe that your billet cnc case has a bit more internal clearance for the lowers than the stock cast case??

I think only the turbo guys are seeing +70 mph track speeds in the deep.

19/46 gearing

I'm sure that a 45 will fit in the stock case. I see you agree. If a turbo only sees 75 in the deep. Why would you want a n/a sled to be geared to go over 80-85?

Interesting! When I was talking to Kevin at C3 Powersports, he was recommending the 2.31 ratio for me usng his extended belt drive. So that's what I will be running this year. He says the belt drive will free up the top end, so in essence you won't be losing on top, just gaining on the bottom. Sounds like a win/win for me. Last year I was running 19/42 in my 11. I noticed a little better pull off the bottom, nothing on the top, probably cuz I don't do 80 down the trail. Too busy hittin the stuff on the sides.

I run 19/43 in both of our pro's with custom cut helix and I believe it is a red/black spring. Have a PA head and HPS can running 64's and stock primary at 3-6000'. After several good pull up the hills the clutches are warm, but can hold bare hands on them easily enough. Both clutches are about the same temp to the touch. 600 miles on original belt and it still looks like new with almost no visible belt dust anywhere. Clutching is working good and holds rpm's very well, but may try a tied this year for the heck of it.

Thanks Dootimes2, have you noticed what your mph are while your climbing in the deep pow?

Depending on the snow conditions it averages in the mid to upper 40's. Have never seen it less than 43 and have seen low 50's in perfect conditions. Also forgot to mention the primary has been shimmed and I have an aftermarket primary belt to sheave adjuster.
