19/45 gears in a PRO, thoughts?

This will be the first time I geared a sled down (yea i know there isn't much to it). I got it all in there and had to take up a lot of slack with the tensioner but it all looks good to my untrained eye(74 pitch chain). Clearance is kinda tight but not bad, I doubt you could fit a 46 on it.

Any comments or concerns with these gears in this sled? I haven't heard of anyone going lower than 19/43 yet.

Guess I'll be the guinea pig :face-icon-small-hap

What I would like to know...... is there any real deep snow performance gains with lower gears?
The stock setup works real well.
I was thinking of trying 19 tooth top gear only..... That would be a slightly lower gearing from 20/42.

I have 19/43 in my pro and it works great... I like to ride in the trees and with that gearing it spools up very quickly.

Any other thoughts on re gearing? The sled pulls hard but I could use some more track speed. Has any one seen the same thing? Will the 19/43 increase the track speed on the ground? Thanks.

I'm running 21/45. I think my Pro only needs a touch lower gearing.
19/45 seems really low. If you climb much, you might lose ground speed
before you hit the hill and not go as high.

It may seem too low but i doubt it, you cant look at hill climbin as a function of ground speed, but instead track speed, Geared to 19:45 you still should be able to do 70+ mph, depending on track length, ive never shot a shoot like you see on thunderstruck or anything but 70 is more then enough for the hillclimbin most hills. If you can keep your track going 70 as you climb the hill youll loose less ground speed. Its a function of the torque of your engine and the clutching, if you dont have to back shift you'll keep track speed up, and to stop the back shifting you need to have the track turn with less torque, IE lower gearing.

Check out this link for gearing ratios and chain lengths.

I put 19/45 gears in my 163 a few months ago and I am glad I did it.

I can't remember exactly what my track speeds are on the hill but I know I picked up a couple mph of track speed when climbing.

I have still reached an indicated 70mph track speed when on trail so its plenty of gear for me to go as fast as I want.

163, dynoport pipe, mtx weights black/purple secondary, I like the stock gearing best, (oh 7500') tried 19/42,18/42,18/43 imho.. Just what you like the best, they all work well with clutching changes:wave:
