So I have a 17 fx and it has dripped a couple of drops of antifreeze out of the weep hole on the water pump from day one. It has around ten hrs on it now and seems to drip more now. Only when I first start it. As soon as it warms up the drip quits. Is it a bad seal or does it have to do with being cold?

thats been an issue since Yam built their first 400's. Never had any of my 250's leak, never had a 450 that didn't leak off and on. I replaced all the parts several times on my WR, polished the water pump rod to mirror finish, tried aftermarket seals, drips when it wants to. Walk around the pits at a mx race, pretty much the norm on 1/3 of the Yam 450.

Ive had 7 yz450f's from 2004 to the 3 I own now. Not one of them has ever leaked a drop from the wheep hole. My brothers 2016 FX doesn't leak a drop either. Sounds like there may be an issue with the newer FX's but as far as the older models a wheeping water pump is not a normal occurance.
My 99 YZ 400 leaked out of the weep hole. Only after I ran it dang near out of coolant and overheated the crap out of it!
If I remember correctly, I stuck a golf tee in there and solved the problem?
