First off I love Orange ... Only Sled offered in Pumpkin trim is Assault RMK

I want to try to use one sled to ride a couple 300 mile trips at home and a couple out west ..

Currently Running a 155 800 with X3 and 36" front

So
1. I want the wide front
2. Probably want front cooler
3. Would prefer 2.25 here
4. Prefer 3" out west
5. Has to be Orange ( Matte grey and orange is second)

So my first Choice is Assault 3" with all Orange options .. Then buy a 2.25 or shave a 2.4

???????s

Can I install a 3" on a 2.25 equipped sled ??
SKS comes in here but has a Weak and narrow front ..

Must be all Chassis will clear a 3" being it is offered in Assault and a front cooler !

What front arms and spindle is on the ASSAULT VS RMK and SKS ?

Are all drivers 3.0 pitch now or 2.86 ??

Any other reasons either way ??

I would go with a 2.6 SKS if I were you. It's been reported by the majority that the 2.6 gets up on the snow better than the 3" anyway, plus better cooling. Although the only time my Pro over heats is when I'm moving slow through the trees in hard snow. As long as the scratchers are down and I'm cruising on the trail, no heating problems whatsoever.

I think the only reason for someone to snowcheck a 3" axys is to say they have a 3"

Our trail riding here is 100+ MPH so I really want the wide and strong front as well as the tunnel braces and rail reinforcements..

SKS doesn't come in Inferno Goddess either !

Does anyone know if there are differences in the rear suspension between the assualt and rmk and what affects the changes have on the way the sled rides/handles? I know on the pro chassis the front arm mounted in a different location and the front arm was longer? Maybe? I know the rail profile was also different on the pro vs pro assualt. Same on the axys?

i believe the approach angle on the pro and assault are different, also the suspension package is different. The shocks on the assault are bigger, have more travel and are able to take a little more of a beating on the trail.

Yep, same on the Axys. Pro will, in theory, trench less. Assault rail profile is more curved at the front to accommodate the lower mounting position (sort of an anti-stab thing). Pro has either std monotube WEs or remote rezzis, Assault has the beefier needle remote rezzis.

100+ MPH on a deep snow sled and you will be destroying the track, although unless you gear up you will never attain that speed.

I have a 16 assault with 2.6 track

1) you wont get near 100+ mph on this sled. Good luck hitting 75-80. Like said before it will destroy the track if you try to go that fast.
2) my 2.6 pretty much goes anywhere a 3.0 does plus I can still take my sled up to the UP and ride trails.
3) It does not have a front cooler on it but as along as you put your scratchers down you wont have any overheating issues.
4) the shocks are valued different than a PRO. They are stiffer. The assault does not come with a sway-bar either
5) The a-arms on the assault are still steel not aluminum like the SKS and PROs, so you wont have to worry about the those breaking like twigs on you.

Points taken ..

Rail profile and cooler are big
I like big Shocks !!!

With the trenching and cooler weight a 100% mountain guy would lean towards Pro RMK

I realize I have to gear up ! Usally I run 23/40 and am perfect for boondocking and trail jounts!!

155 X 3 Assault would probably be my choice because it will go where a 155x 2.6 Pro will

The front springs in a Assault are 130# vs 100(Pro) and rear track spring is 100 (Assault) and 130#(RMK)

I am currently on a SKS using the 2.25 Peak and I´m loving it, I use it to ride a fair bit on trails to get to deep snow. No cooling issues, rarely it goes above 54C /131F and Im not even using ice scratchers. I am a bit afraid of breaking the rails when riding it to fast on really bad and hard trails, maybe its not an issue and only me who are playing it to safe.

Anyway my question is about the Pro RMK. usually the trails I ride are in really bad shape with bumps all over.

will the Quickdrive belt be ok to ride on bumpy trails for long distances before I arrive to deep snow?
how often do you have to change the quickdrive belt?
Cooling issues on the Pro when riding trails?

Is it worth installing brace kits on the rails? I really want a sled that can take a beating like the SBA but has the deep snow capabilities like the Pro. I am guessing switching the A arms and installing brace kits on the rail will beef the Pro up.

The RMK Assault doesn't have the front cooler.
The Series 7 3" track is the only 3" pitched track Polaris offers, so if you want a smaller lug track, you'll likely need new drivers unless Arctic Cat has something.
And also remember the Assault doesn't have a sway bar so it may roll into the corners more that you want.

Hard to hit 100MPH with SKS or RMK with a 2+ track on it. I have a SKS 2.6 a 12 ProRmk 2.4 and a RMK600 2.0. If fast trail riding ever comes up again I would not consider any of these. Don't get me wrong we still whoop it up on the trail on occasion but not 100MPH. I've done maybe 90 at short bursts. Most fun trail riding is fast from corner to corner which really only reaches about 60 anyway.

i have hard time hitting 70 on trail. and i don't see why you need a 3" and even why you bothered asking. i think you'll find overwhelming vote for 2.6" on here and sounds like your ordering a 3" anyways.

Says on specs it has front cooler

I will order a frontend for. ZBros either way .. But a strong front is my first choice so prob a wide stock front and narrow front for out west will be the way I go

Tunnel braces are the deciding factor after the front cooler

I have a 2016 assault and it definitely does not have front cooler. It will run hot on hard pack trails if you don't use the scratchers. Top speed of the assault on hard packed road is 82 mph. It is a great sled, love it, but it will not reach 100 mph. On the wider stance body roll in corners is not an issue.

Sounds like you need 2 order two sleds :) No matter what you order you're not going to be happy with riding the same sled in the mountains and in the flat lands. But if you did the assault you could find a used 3 pitch 155 track and cut it down to about 1.5 inches or less and add a sway bar to the front! Then order a 36 inch front end like you said for out west but you would also have to get some shorter shocks that are 16.125 inches long. At least it would be inexpensive to gear it and that would be a pretty nice set up.

The SKS does, the RMK Assault doesn't.

I would suggest you an SKS 155, buy an aftermarket wider front end or trade someone who has an RMK Assault.

Either get it with the 2.6" track and ride that out west, then find a cheap 2.4" series 5.1 and cut it down to 1.5" for trail burning.
OR
Get the SKS with the 2.25" Peak and get a 2nd big lug track, either the 2.6" Series 6 or a 3" and driver setup to swap back and forth.

OR
Buy 2 sleds (one trail and one mtn) for 0% for 60mo and avoid the extra few grand in parts...
