Not sure what my weight ratio is on this but just finished building this big bore motor 1641. Put a 34 Solex on it and am ready for turbo now..;)
These ole buggies are a blast to run around in, my 4 year old daughter will not let this car roll with out her in it!

Is that a Manx body? We have/had a couple of them, had a group of about 15 buggies back in the mid 90's we used to terrorize NW Washington with.

Is that a tweaked Bus transaxle?

I've been contemplating throwing one together, all the ceramic coating technology has improved soooo much, would really help keep head temps down.

Kendal oil, the only oil that used to stand up to the cylinder head temps of a woods buggy!

You know your buggies!!

Yes it is a Manx body, and yes it is a bus transaxel. I actually had to upgrade motors because I had the ole bus motor in it and burned it up (forgot check oil) and it was a dripper. Found out the hard way NO parts top end for those ole bus motors. Had to upgrade but didnt hurt my feelings much. These parts are SO cheap its insane. I did put the later 1600 motor in it that has the extra cooling dog house for the #3 cylinder.

Haha! Yeah, it was very cheap fun back in the day, but like I said, it's getting more and more appealing again! I've got a stroker motor sitting in the shop that needs to be thrown back together.

A cousin of mine builds sand rails and still swears by the VW motors, his last one was in Sand Sports the magazine, full Scat motor on boost and on juice, made something like 330hp with NO juice, and had a 150 shot ontop of that, and in a car weighing less than 800 lbs, it was wicked!

Just watch out with those bus transaxles, we had issues on the street with our slightly more stout motors breaking first gear keys, mostly on the stroker buggy with street tires and side stepping the clutch, but dang it! the wheelies are so much fun! A couple companies make hardened keys for them.

Oh! and another thing, make sure ALL the cooling tin goes back in them, we thought we would be smart and pull some tin out to hopefully increase the airflow, WRONG! Had nothing but trouble warping cylinders with the thinner wall BB cylinders, put the tin back in, not an issue.

BTW-is that a link-pin front end or a ball joint?
