163 Summit on a 7ft Sled deck

I recently bought a 09 163X XP and was going to buy a sled deck to fit my 08 Duramax shortbox. Will my new sled fit okay on a 7 foot marathon deck? I know I can buy a longer deck but do not like the looks of them hanging so far off the back of the track.

I just put my 162" apex in a 5'5 Tundra box and drove 500 miles with no problems. It'll work but it'll be hanging off abit!

carbon i run the 7ft marathon on my lifted 07.5 duramax with a 09 summit x XP 154 no problems plenty long enough, just hanges off alot

oh i would never go to a 8 foot deck every time i'm near them things i'm bangin my head on them what a pain in the ***, i know a few guys switching from 8 ft. STF deck to 7 ft Marathons after seeing mine

My 04 Duramax hauls a MotoMikey sled deck with my 174 and it hangs way out, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have an 163 XP on an 8' deck and it hangs way off the back....only about 1/2 the track is on the deck, I wouldn't go with the 7' deck.

I wouldn't do it. How is it any different if it's a 7' or 8' deck when your hauling sleds? The shorter the deck the harder to load, not to mention a 7' deck with that long of a sled, is unsafe the track would have only a few lugs on the deck.

i bought the 6' deck and an extension. should work perfectly.

my buddy had a 6ft stf, with the extentions but the wieght of the sled was on the ext. which hooked under the bobtail. anyway his bob tail ended up breaking off cause of being a poor design, they switched out the deck for a 8ft stf, but he hate the thing cause it sticks way out, bangs his head on it, and the ramps are a pain in the but, plus a few smaller concerns.

now he sold that one and is getting a 7 ft marathon, like i told him to when he bought his 6ft STF, he's now had 3 decks in 2 years lol

one thing that might effect yur decision is are you going to leave it on all year round that was one thing that made me go with the 7 foot

I don't get why people are so worried about it sticking out? My deck is 9'6' long in the 6'4" shortbox, non expandable sides and it's been in the truck for the last 2 months, doesn't bother me one bit and never banged my head yet

You bang your head on the 8 foot deck....but you miss the 12.5 foot sled???? Where are you looking?
