16 wide on ZX chassis Question??

Guys,

My cousin is thinking about putting a 16x151x2.25 track on his '01 summit. My question is, is there enough room for the 2.25 paddles to clear w/o doing a Drop and Roll with the chaincase. I figured we would set the skid back and down. Will we need a big wheel kit to make it work? All your help is greatly appreciated.

On the 01 summits you only have to slide the skid back if you install extroverts. I don't think it will clear without a d&r.

I have a 03. In 03 it came with a factory drop and roll. I have a144 x 16 x 2" on it. I don't think there's room for a taller track as it will hit near the drivers. This can be fixed with smaller drivers but it is also about 3/8" from the heat exchanger above the track on it's return to the drivers.

^^Yup, 3" pitch 7 tooth drivers is what I'm running on my 01' and it clears a 162x15x2.25, a little tight, but not enough to cause issues. The skid setback does more than take up track, it also helps the attack angle issues the 00-01's had. 02-03's had the setback stock as well as a minor d&r like what Tech-air said.

I just went from a stock 151 to a 153 challanger extereme and it fits fine with the 3 pitch and going down from 9 tooth introverts to 7 tooth extroverts, but I did have to put an 8 inch big wheel kit on to take up the extra slack.

I think some guys had to change the rear drop brackets and or put rivits on from the inside of the tunnel.I did a drop & roll on my ZX and first run up the hill killed the highmark.there was more than one sled on there sides wonder why I was kicking but.I also put a 151x2 camoplast chalenger on.

i put a 2.5 on my 2000 and it cleared with about 1/16".

I had a 162-15-2.5 camo-extreme on my 01 zx and i had a d&r with 7 tooth 3.0 pitch drivers and i had a fair amount of room. I also had a 16 wide on it and went back to a 15. I liked the 15 better. just my .02cents

I put a 162x16x2.3 in my 00 ZX, it fit with 2.52 pitch 9 tooth extroverts. You will have to grind the head on one of the chaincase bolts & grind some rivets down on the tunnel. Its a bit of work but, well worth it IMO.
