I know its potentially possible to go 16" wide track on a polaris sled/tunnel. Anyone done it or know what mods are needed, required?
Thanks

16 wide track

It is very possible but there is kinda of alot to it.It wont just go right under them. Consider rolled chaincase, in my case i have generic holz rolled chaincase which isnt quite enuf clearance on front cooler so i had to rid of it and get a u cooler but i also have 2.5" track that is where i found problems, if you have a shorter lug length you should be fine, just make sure the track is aligned with the idlers, be exact as i spaced them to where they rub the inside nubs this will keep the track from walking side to side but beware so still dont have much clearance GOOD LUCK

Its been a few years since I did it but....

It wasn't to difficult at all...as I remember all we did is drill the front skid mount 1" back.....cut the tips off the front of the rails for the anti ratchets....and put the caps back on....and then I added a couple washers on each side to spread the tunnel out just a bit and bolted it back up...didnt used any rail extensions as moving the skid back was all it needed...did that in 04 and still running it today...2.5x16x163.....03 Vertical Escape.

You wont get it under the new raw sleds though..was to narrow...:(

Ragged

If you are going with a longer track move your skid half the difference of the lenghth change, If you do that you should be ok for the clearance of going with ati ratchet drivers.

If you are keeping the same lenghth track and don't need to move the skid back then you will need to cut the front ends of your rails back a bit.

If you are keeping the same lenghth track, and not changing to anti ratchet drivers, and just going with a wider track Then all you should need to do is use a couple washers for spacers on each side of the skid bolt up points to spread your tunnle apart a bit.

Good luck, it's not too bad it's just time.

I did this to my 01 rmk. dropped and rolled at the same time. Not too hard, just lots of time. just don't cut your rails too short, I ended up stabbing my track. loved the performance though
