Will my rmk 155 fit into fords 5.5ft box with the gate down?
how many guys have done this, do able? i know its gonna hangout a bunch but is it a reasonable and safe amount?

Thanks!

yea its fine. Yous bed is almost 8 foot with the gate down and that is how long most sled decks are. I have a friend that packs a 153 cat around in his 5.5 foot bed every weekend

Anyone have a pic? My next truck will probably have the 5.5 ft. bed (someday I WILL own a Raptor) and I was wondering how well a sled would fit.

I put my PRO RMK 163 in the back of my 2010 Supercrew 5.5ft box no issue at all. Made a 600 mile drive with it in the bed

i fit my freinds summit 1000 162 in the back of my ford ranger. you'll be fine

Had my 163" Pro in a 6' bed with gate down, no prob. For long term use tho, I would use some kind of support along the back of the bed to take some weight off the tailgate.

If I recall correctly... if you're more than 4 ft past the factory tail lights your gonna have to have a flag during the day and a 'steady on' light attached at night for safety:face-icon-small-win

i hauled my 162 apex in my ford with 5.5ft box for a couple seasons bought a single sled hauler to save my tailgate from getting all chipped up. tie a small chunk of flagging tape on the bumper of the sled and you should be left alone.

Sweet! Gonna be much more enjoyable sledding now as some of these logging roads around whistler bc aren't the most trailer friendly! They are steep and narrow! Be so nice to scoot up there with just the truck!

Now do it with a cross box in the bed.

I have hauled 144's with the box in, but the skis will slide up under the box a little bit. Originally I had a sheet of plywood down to help reinforce the tailgate area, small 2x2 block to keep the paddles from laying over and it would haul ok. Strap it in good. With a 144, it measured 44" from the back of the tailgate to the back of the sled bumper.

i drove 6hrs one way a couple times a month to the mtns with my apex in the box for over a season. also hauled it with me to college and back home. thats 15hrs 1 way. not one bit of tailgate damage at all. very surprised at the durability of fords light tailgate.
