153 vs 162

Does anyone have some real seat time comparison info on non boosted Nytro's? I have been told it's a huge difference. I like my 153, but going to a 162 is cheap enough. I know while I was in Colorado last year I many times wished for a 162. Thanks

I've owned both 53 & 62, turboed & non. My 08 153 without a turbo was'nt much of a mt. sled until turboed. My 2011 162 was a very capable mt. sled without, with a turbo its awesome. Find a 2010 or newer to turbo, it'll save you money in the long run. $.02

Yes, suspension front & rear. I think a turbo nytro needs a 162 or bigger to support HP & weight. But, if it comes down to money, turbo first. Just get the turbo.

Darn dollars anyway, My 08's have lost so much value, and we,ve lost two of our three local dealers, I am thinking I may have to change brands anyway. I think you're right on about the 162 and turbo. I can go 162 first, $500 to $600 vs a Push kit at $2500 to $3000.

I went from a stock 153 to a 162, timbersled skid, and a power claw. It was a completely different sled after the swap. Going 162 is a no brainer in my opinion.

A good 162 track and suspension upgrade on the '08 will make it feel like a whole new sled. it doesn't matter if you go CE or Powerclaw. the stock tunnel will accept a 162 track with no modification. most people mod their tunnels on the 08 because the running boards hang up in deep snow

Depends on the rider. I own a 153 (which is for sale) and have ridden the 162. Had no issue going where I wanted to with the 153, but had to ride a 162 out for a guy a couple of years ago. Technical area but easy on mine. He had no clue, but had a big sled. Only reason I'm selling is my dealership sells Yamaha and Polaris and gonna try a Pro RMk. Any issues, and it's getting traded back for another Nytro. Personally, I find the 4 stroke easy to ride, unless you try to ride it like a 2 stroke. Rarely get stuck with the 153 and don't think the extra 3 inches on the ground will help me much over the shorter sled. If you are a really big guy, or have an issue with throttle controll, the longer track may be a benefit to you.

do the 162 with a tunnell extension. sled looks stupid with 162 track on the stock 153 length tunnell. vanamburg makes a nice extension.

Hey Paulharris
sled looks stupid with 162 track on the stock 153 length tunnell? Really!!!

That is certainly a matter of opinion. I dont think moving the rear wheels back a total of 4 1/2 inches makes that big of a impact on the overall appearance of the Nytro. It is hardly even noticable but of course that is just me.
I do agree that van amburg makes nice looking stuff and it would be one way to go if money was no object but it certainly is not necessary

yes it is a matter of opinion. i did it on mine and felt it looked extremely stupid. the tunnell just looked too short with the 162 and it was very noticeable to my eye. the vanamburg bumper/extension really doesent break the bank at 150 bucks and the bumper is much nicer looking and more funcional than the stock one.

Finally got into some decent snow today. I have 2 08's so I went with a new Attack 20 on one and a very litely used Challenger on the other. Both 153's. Both good deals, thanks Snowest. Did some climbing in about 18 inches of powder. What a nice change from the Maverick. Definately liked the 20 in hillclimb rotation. And the Challenger was solid as always. It was fun to throttle back and torque up instead of the full throttle spin. I am pretty sure 162 will have to wait now. More fun to ride than work on anyway.:face-icon-small-hap
