153 or 162??

I have an 09 M8LE 153 with the boondocker pump gas turbo. It seems harder to keep on a sidehill than my M1000 162. I'm thinking that the longer track was easier to sidehill but I haven't ridden a TM8 with a 162. Any suggestions?

I have an 09 TM8 also. It is a 153". In our group we have 2 09 M8 163" SnoPros. I was a little apprehensive when getting the 153" as my other sleds are all longer than 162". My apprehension was laid to rest the first ride on the TM8. Granted, it does not have quite the flotation of the 162s, but it is so close it is hardly noticeable, to me anyways. I rode the sleds back to back and the 153 really surprised me. As far a sidehilling, I could not detect any real difference. I feel the 153" is a real "giggle" as far banging around on in the trees. More nimble for sure.

My 02, FWIW.

what year is the m1000,
My 07 was all around better at everything, the 09 skid suspension sucks but it weighs far less I've found if its the same year and set up right the 153 is easier.

does the m1000 have a two weel kit on it?
Shorter track.... less flotation... harder to sidehill for sure but it should not be that noticable.

The M1000 is an 07 and the TM8 is an 09. No two wheel kit on the M1000. I noticed when I'm going down hill and I try to turn around part way down it seems to drag alot more instead of hooking up and turning back up hill. Maybe I need to quit being a puss!!:D:D

You just have to change technique a bit. As you ride a shorter track you need to feather the angle of the sled more to keep the track from dropping & spinning out. If you come down the hill and throw your body toward the hill more than you would have with the 162 it'll come around better.

I noticed a difference when I went to the 141, it took about 5 rides to get to where I could do the same stuff on that shorter track that I could do on my 156, now I feel like I can do more. Long tracks are boring.

backcountry and kitty are right on it! body position and counter steer will make it happen! the angle/uprtightness of the sled will make it hookup and take off!

What they said ^^^
the 09 is a whole different animal, you may be use to fighting the tunnel as well. the skid setup makes a diff to. on the 09 to much rear shock pressure will make it want to wash out, But trenches less this way, but if you run enough pressure in the front skid shock to make up for it, it trenches. for about $150 you can make it a lot better. I found even on the stock 09 once you get used to it, it will do far more in the trees and on the hills then the older sleds.

call holz, dual front skid spring, revalve both shocks, and extra canister for rear shock

last year someone said it cost them $155.00, may have been a buddie deal though. It is what I plan on doing, just need to take the time to pull my shocks and ship.

349.00 front and rear with new progressive spring set up on front arm and revalve on all 4 shocks

Price I was quoted but who knows. U may have better buddies than me:D. With that said I rode my buddies sled after it was revalved by Holz and I did not think I was going to notice the difference was I ever wrong. My 2009 sp shox at the time only had about 400 miles on them. Nite and day difference. Made the woops feel like a bran new Hwy.:beer;:beer;

that may have been the price for the dual spring and revalve the rear air shock with extra canister.
