i'm looking to purchase my first sled, although ive been riding my buddies 800 doo for a few years. i'm 26, 210lbs, very active and will get the m1000. is it worth getting the 1000 w/the shorter track? i live in western washington. mt baker doesnt have many trees but snoqualmie is a forest. i would be boondocking mostly as my nuts are growing for hill climbing. any pros or cons over track length?, besides the 162 being less agile. thanx fellas.

With your size and strength I would go 162 on a 1000, hands down. Call mount baker moto they are in your area and ask for Woody. He is the head sales guy there and he will point you in the right direction. We ride the baker area all the time.:D:D

My sled is a 1000 153 and I love it... Boondocks great, and with the skid setup correctly it does pretty good in the deep pow.
If you are agressive and plan ahead well, you will like the 153.
If the snow you ride in is 3 feet deep or more on lots of ocasions, with tight technical riding, the 162 may suit you better.

The 162 feels pretty agile to me... Not much harder to manuver... The areas I don't like the 162 are the really whooped out trails.
I like to jump as much as anything otherwise I would have went with the 162.
The 153 with a powerclaw will be a good runner in the deep.
The 162 alows you to stop almost anywhere you want in deep snow and will put higher marks on the hill if there is little to no run at them.

I'm 6' 3" 225 LBS.

I bought the 153 on my 08 M1000. Put the PC track on it and i'm still not happy. I wish i would of gone with the 162 for my weight and having the 1000. But i ride in Utah with the deep powder. For your size get the 162. if i was a smaller guy i would love the 153. Maybe i need to work on the set-up. JMHO.

Anyone want to trade the skid/track on a 162? Or any one have some 162 rails? LOL :D

does the 162 push more in the corners? I tossing around the idea of picking up another sled and have been wondering the exact same thing as the OP.

If I had the choice again...

I weigh bout 135 with all my gear, I have the 1000 153, I really like it but in the deep I gotta really plan ahead and pick some creative lines and poach a little :p. Ive rode the 162's and can't notice that much diff in corners and handling like I thought I would. My next purchase is def a 162... so I think you wouldn't be dissapointed with the 162.

A 153 is a short track . I think a 162 is the smallest i will ever ride again . But then again we live for the days when you are pushing dry powder over the bars all day long.

You will not regret getting a 162 , unless you like getting stuck.:beer;

if you ride the DEEP, 162...
