Im going to put a 153 on my 03 700 vertical edge, going with 7 tooth extroverts. My question is, to take up the extra track length im thinking of moving the skid back, do I just measure straight back from each mounting hole and drill or do I need to lower the new holes some what? Any info would be appreciated.

i dont know about moving the skid back but is your 151 all torn up? or whats the point for all the work to get an extra inch of rubber on the snow?

I picked up an a20 153 reasonable, been cut to 2" and lugs straightened. My 151 is getting pretty rough, missing quite a few lugs.

The big wheel kits are a great idea but my understanding is going with smaller drivers I should consider moving skid back to keep attack angle, or is the change so small nothing will be lost.

depends on driver change amount, from 10-7 toothes yeah, but if your only going down a size or even two your fine, moving the skid back for that litte of a track change doesnt seem worth it at all. you can just suck your limiter strap in a bit, and then soften your front skid shock a click, and i would say your golden.

how much space is left in the tensioner with the 151? if its a little over an inch, i could almost guarante you can put the 153 on with no mods at all.

Your 151" track is a 2.52" pitch track. The 153 is a 3" pitch track. 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers are smaller than your 10 tooth 2.52 drivers. By going to 8" wheels you should be ok without moving the skid

Sled Guy, why do you think I will be disappointed? I havent installed it yet, Im open to all opinions.

assuming, as i am, that the 153 hes putting on is one of the cat 2.25 ones, which are way nicer IMO than a 151x2, get much better traction with the .25 inch, its actually impressive for such a small amount. and seeing as he already has to replace it, it think the 153 is a great choice, those tracks work really well in everything but the MOST setup snow, but not much does good then anyways.

They are virtually the same length track. You have one that has been cut to 2" paddles and straightened. But the 153 is a 3.0 pitch track which means it has 16% fewer cross bars which means 16% fewer places for paddles to be mounted.

I've tried lots of tracks over the years on Polaris sleds. I have yet to see a same paddle height track in 2.83 or 3.0 pitch that performs better than the 2.52 pitch tracks. That's all around riding in Utah snow.

Yup, the 3.0 pitch tracks are lighter. Of course road tires on my truck are lighter than mudders, but I'll take the mudders for off-road driving any day.
