15 years of Snowfall Graphs in Island Park/West Yellowstone (peaks)

I was doing a little research this morning to see what we have left of our season for Island Park. So I went through the last 10 years of SnoTel data and compiled some charts. These are for the Island Park Black Bear sensor, so this would be the HIGHEST readings for all of Island Park.

Each screen is Auto-Sized for itself, so the peaks are NOT relative to each other, each chart can represent a SIGNIFICANTLY different amount of snow from one year to another!

But the 10 year pattern does show some predictability on peak snow and when the big melt-off comes.

I'm confused. This graph shows the snowfall to be substantially less than prior years? Am I reading something wrong? It also appears to be a prediction line as we are only in January.

On another note, the previous years of 2006 and 2008 show substantially more snowfall in January than what is currently listed for this January (95in now). To me this wouldn't justify saying "MIGHT be a Historic year for snow" when looking at the past data. Just an observation, not bashing, just observing.

I think you are observing last year. This year would be the 2011 Graph which has not been shown.

That's what I was thinking...but then after the 2010, there is a parenthesis (so far) which to me would indicate that it is for this year. Then to add to it, the melt date has 3 question marks.

Oh well, I'm not in the states to enjoy the snow anyway so I'm just passing time by here.

When I created that one last season it had NOT yet run the whole season.
So as the year progressed, so did the graph.
