144 to 159 Is a tunnel extension neccesary?

Going from a 144 to 159. Have slp rail extensions and was curious if anybody had any problems with overheating without running the tunnel extensions. My plan was to strap up the snowflap to keep it from getting sucked into the track. Sled also has ice scratchers.

It really all depends on how far past your tunnel the track goes. i just put a 163 under my 02 edge 156 and didnt put a tunnel extension on. I know mine is only 7 inches but its a similar concept. I heated the plastic flap enforcer and bent it out and it cleared the track enough. I dont believe heating\cooling will be a problem unless you are running on hard pack alot which the scratchers will not only help your hifaxes from heating but will throw snow on the track for the heat exchangers. Hope that helps. Good luck

Might do for a test ride or two. But not a permanent solution! All it takes is sucking that snowflap up once and not noticing until its to late to cook your motor.....As it can shield the rear cooler from cooling snow.... I always change the tunnel extension out when going longer(also looks WAY WAY WAY better:face-icon-small-sho ) Just my 2 cents but that is what I always have done and been told about sucking up a snowflap

hope it helps
