141 powerclaw with 136 suspenion

i want to run the 141 power claw out west next year but i dont want to get a 141 skid. got some info from a guy but need to know if it would work. he said run a offset axle with the offset to the rear with 8" wheels, drop brakets, bigger upper wheels and the 3" pitch drivers. do you think that would be enough to get the 141 track tight?

thanks

If you were to do all of that you are hardly getting any more track on the ground you are only making a bigger circle out of your track, the idea of the big wheel kits is to lessen the angle of the corners your track goes around not be able to put a longer track on, im sure there are rail extensions out there or a local machine shop that would be willing to build you some, that just seems like a lot of work and maybes to get it in the mountains and have your track start racheting. Good luck though and happy riding.

I would go with some Ice Age Rails, or you can also check with Ols machine as I think they do the extension kits as well.

I get a feeling that what he's looking to do is run his 136 back home (a 1.25 or something) and then run a 2.25 out west, so he'd want an easy swap.

We tried to do what you're talking about on a 136 XF, you need new drivers, and just running bigger wheels didn't do the trick, we needed an extension. You may be able to get away with the bigger upper wheels, we didn't try that.

Just keep in mind that whatever you do you'll have to change drivers, so it would probably be easiest to just get a different shaft so you can go back & forth between them.

Backcountry brings up a good point about the drivers....... BDX makes a nice setup with the drivers already installed on a lightweight shaft.

That shaft would work if he's an 05 or 06, but not 07+ right? I can't remember on the XF when they changed. I know they still had 136 in 07 at least, so he could have the shorter shaft.

ok what i was thinking of doing is running my 136x1.25 at home but when i go out west i want a bigger lug track. rode my buddies with the 141 powerclaw and loved it. figured with the 8" wheels over the stock 6" wheels that would take up some but not enough. that where the offset axle backwards comes in and the bigger upper wheels. going to ave my friends bother make me some drop brakets this summer out of billet.ole's make rail ext but not any for running the 141 checked it out earlier this year.

thanks

All you need to do is move the front mounting bolt to the the back hole. Which you will have to drill out. They dont make a rail ext. Tried making one it didnt work. And change the driver.

Did you help mike with his Steve?

I don't know if I can explain how that sled got set up to work, but he didn't have to buy anything, he flipped some mounts around, but didn't have to buy anything.

why not just do a 144 with rail ext you will get 1 more lug on the ground over a 141.if you want to swap back for Midwest trail buy a used 144 switch back track or some thing.no need to change drivers.also cant you buy some 05/06 m7 141 rails at a swap for under $100bucks but also more work than rail ext.

dont want the 144 my dad had one on his xfire7 this year out sest and i wasnt to impressed with it. could go more places wit my 136 on my xfire8. and if i have to take the drive shaft out to change tracks i might as mell get a 3 pitch one and run the track that i want 141 power claw. though about getting a 141 skid at a swap but i would have to go through and have to shoks rebuilt before i run it.

Yes I did help him. After making the extension and trying to make it work it was to tight. All he did was just change the front mounting point and it worked.

They don't make an extension because you don't need one.
Here's what you do...
-Buy m-drivers and have them pressed on your drive shaft and reinstall.
-Drill out a hole just behind the existing hole in the front of the tunnel (there's a stamp on the tunnel where to drill)
-Remove the rear pivot arms (alluminum plate to the outside of the coil springs) and turn them foward. Use the existing rear bolt holes and you should be good to go.

It only took about 200 man hours to figure this one out but it works.

got any pics of it?

I put a 141 on my 07 crossfire8. Here is what i did, Replace the drivers bought one off ebay, shaft and drivers (75.00) bought avid-product offset axle (125.00) 8" wheels off ebay (20.00) Most important anti-stab wheels I learned the hard way(80.00) plus (250.00) to fix the track. I also bought Hrp drop brackets had to do some fab work for that. 1500 hurdred miles later no problem.
