133.5" SKS Skid. Will a 136" track fit?

I have an 89 Indy that had a 144"x 2" track that was stabbed by the rails. The suspension/rails are also broken. I didn't pay anything for it, and the rest of the sled is in great shape. I have found a 94 Indy SKS 133.5" chassis that is missing a motor. The track is not a deep lug. I was hoping to get a decent sled going between the two... I was thinking I would pull the skid from the SKS and try and find a taller lug track for it. 1 1/2" or bigger lugs. My question is will a 136" track fit the 133.5" skid? Could I use larger wheels to take up the slack? 2-wheel kit? I have searched the forum without and answers so I thought I'd ask the experts! Thanks!
 
It can work but it may involve moving the skid back about a inch to take up the track slack . The big wheel kit will help but may not be enough if you want feel free to give me a call 7153057177 i have done a few skid swaps and can walk you through it .
 
Bigwheel kit should do it... I did a couple of 133 to 136 switches and 'usually' could get enough adjustment by elongating the back of the adjuster groove in the rails.

That was before big wheel kits came out.

I put a 136 in my 91 SKS that was 133.5. Track tensionors took up all the slack. I put 8 tooth drivers and a 1.5x136 and it is a great sled for my 14 yr old.
 
My ultra needed the one inch setback, so did my Xlt.

The rear dropbracket needed an extra ear welded on to do it, the elongination sound nice doe!
 
One note to this equation is the paddle length. I had a 133.5 with a 3/4" paddle and went to a 1.5". It ran great till about 50-60 mph and then it felt like you were hitting the brakes. What happens is a funnel effect at the creast of your rear skid. As the track pulls snow up into the tunnel, it has no place to escape due to the reduced clearance of the paddel and the under-side of the tunnel. I had to extend 2" and r&d my chaincase giving me a easy 3" clearance of a 2" paddle.

50-60 mph? That might work good as a governor for the kids so they don't get going too fast. Not sure a 440 liquid would spin a 1.5" paddle for too much more top speed than that anyway.
 
The conversion has been done successfully! I had to relocate the rear suspension brackets a few inches back. That was it...Thanks again for all the great info guys :)
