13 Pro Running Issues

Sled wants to idle slow, around 1500 to 1600 plus or minus 50 rpms, sometimes it wants to die when put in reverse but not all the time, it seems to rich on oil at idle, will leave a nice oil film on the shop floor. Sled runs great at all other times good top end. Pump has been turned up 3 1/2 turns and works out to be around 50 to 1. Their is 1200 miles on the sled and the compression is the same on both sides 115 psi. Wondering if turning up the pump has mostly affected the bottom end and not so much past 1/4 throttle ?

I believe, and I could be wrong, but the turning up of the oil pump only effects the amount of oil at less than full throttle. Full throttle is full oil. Turn up pump and it just hits the full oil point sooner.

Am I right?

I would double check your TPS calibration; those are the normal telltale signs of a TPS that is mis-calibrated.

As for the oil; turning it up increases the delivery everywhere including full throttle. The only time the pump actually gets to "wide open" is when the linkage becomes disconnected, then the spring on the pump will open it all the way. Any other times it is somewhere mid stroke depending on calibration setting / adjustment.

could have water in or by the tps too. pull in shop let dry out. have seen that on are sleds here

Sled is always stored in side and has a chance to dry out real good, this all started at around 600 to 700 miles last year and just seems to be getting a little worse, taking sled to dealer today for them to check.

Check your reeds, I had a bad idle and bog in the midrange on my 13'. One of the reed pedals had half of it missing along with cracks in the others. It would die when engaging reverse too. The dealer had checked my TPS and found it to be right on before checking the reeds.

Took sled to dealer , they really don't have an answer for what it's doing , everything checked out ok , they are calling Polaris and will get back to me next week, it dose not have any kind of a bog, just wants to idle slower then it should and will die after you take it out of reverse and when you restart it, it will idle so low that your gauges wont even give a readout unless you rev it up a few times. It's just something that started last year and seems to be getting worse.

I would bet it is still the TPS, most dealers use the digital wrench and only check it for the idle voltage. By doing that they actually miss the entire purpose of the TPS. If the base setting (fully closed on the PRO) is off even a little (and the digital wrench is not much better than a $10 Walmart multimeter) then everything else is off scale as well. It is well worth the small investment to build / buy the proper tools and take the time to set it correctly, if you have the ability to do so. I do not have convenient access to anyone else, so I do it all myself.

I live far enough away (300 miles one way) from the nearest dealer and still would not trust them to wrench on my stuff.

Good luck and hope they sort it out for you soon.

Thought I would post an update. Dealer installed a new tps and at first it seem to solve the issue, after he let the sled sit all night he started it again and it was right back to the same problem, would not idle right, it fouled the plug on the mag side, ( that would be the third time) so he put in new injectors and problem solved. I took the sled for a ride this last Saturday and the sled run great. I would say that it has not run that good from around the 300 mile mark last year, proves to me that this had been an ongoing problem that just took awhile to get bad enough to find what was wrong.
