13' Pro 800 Engine light on and wont rev above 3500rpm

Our 13' Pro RMK 800 with only 188 miles on it. It will start but the engine light comes on right away and displays ENG in the gauge also. It wont let the sled rev up past 3500 rpm or go in reverse without killing the motor. It's also smoking really bad when you try and rev it up. I just got it back from the dealer getting an issue fixed with the electric start not working. It started up and ran fine at the dealer and I loaded it up and took it home. Unloaded the sled and let it sit and warm up. Drove it about 200' then it started acting up.
Do you guys think this is a TPS issue or something else. I'm kind of thinking it myself but I thought I'd ask around and see if anybody else is having similar problems.

Tried running it through the code retrieval process?

Just showing the engine light and that's it? Sounds like you have a bad sensor or something, and it's holding it back in maximum protection limp mode. Not near my manual, and won't be til mid Tuesday after I get off work. But I spent a lot of time reading through trouble code type stuff today, and I'm sure I saw something about a 3500rpm range limp mode...

Was just in the shop working on the electrical system.... My first guess would be that a sensor or electrical plug didn't get put back together solid and came apart throwing a code.

And I would think that not having a sensor plugged in, would throw a hard code, along with the engine light....

I've never had to run through the code retrieval process on a pro before. I've never had any problems with my 12' pro yet so not I'm not sure how to do it. I guess I'll have to get the owners manual out and find out how and see what comes up. I'm hoping to get it fixed myself or I'll have another 600 mile round trip back to my dealer with it. I appreciate any help guys. Thanks

PM me your #, I'll walk ya through it come Tuesday unless someone can explain it prior til then.

Setting parking brake, and running sled, holding certain buttons sort of process....

It is throwing out the 520 194 3 code (high voltage) The dealer had it and replaced the battery a couple weeks ago

My guess would be the microswitch in the throttleblock, it can cause the exact same issues you are having. Check that the cable that runs from it is connected properly and that it is not stuck in some way.

Yeah I figured it went bad also after what you said and others. I was surprised when the plug popped out of the bag when I was getting things taken apart so I could replace it. Just another thing to look for when a issue like this comes up on the pro's.
Thanks John for the help and making time for us to bring it down to you on Saturday if we needed to if the switch wouldn't have fixed it.

Glad I stumbled upon this... Same problem with '13 RMK 600. Called a couple dealers and all they said was bring it in, easier said then done when you're in a bush camp in the Yukon just below the Arctic circle.

Searched long and hard on the internet and found a few forums with same problem but no solution, was almost going to give up when I stumbled upon this. Went back out to the shop, pulled the hood off opened the velcro sleeve and one of the wires was broken off the back of the plug.

Nice! Thanks Guys!
