13 motor failed, 5 weeks out of warrenty, HELP!

Need some advice here. The sled went down and motor locked tight. 250 miles. We just heard back from the dealer and they say the oil pump failed. Crank, cylinder, cases, etc. all junk. Funny thing is it has been using oil as normal and running great right up to the point this happened.

Polaris is denying warranty (expired 12/1/13). 5 weeks ago before it happened! The dealer wants $4K to get it running again.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? I know this is not the first 800 to die like this.

Thanks for the help.

If it was the same dealer you personally bought the sled from, I would expect and fight for partial coverage... especially with such low mileage. Great dealers that go the extra mile like this are few and far between though:face-icon-small-dis

For 4k in repairs, I would be dumping it and picking up a 14. If it's the dealer you bought it from I would think they would want to help you out as much as they can. I'd rather have a brand new 14 than a 13 that's been grenaded and repaired IMO.

Dump It, not like he totaled it. The sled is new, just get a rebuilt motor from Indy Dan, you get a 1 year warranty with it. A Shop up in Northern Alberta just rebuilt a CFI 4 (top (fix Kit) and bottom) for a friend cost $2200. I realize you do not have a core, but still, I would rather have a Indy Dan/ 2013 Pro with 250 miles on the chassie than take a hit on a new 14 IMHO.

I would also call Indy Dan and get a long rod. Rather then have a rebuild from a dealer, for $4000.
