nice to see someone doing this, 2.41 is a heck of a jump in ratio.

This is just a question and by no means hacking on your product but doesn't it make more sense given the issues belts tend to have forming to smaller gears to run a larger driven gear as opposed to a smaller drive gear?

When gearing down dirtbikes we almost never reduce drive gear size to limit stress put on the chain and increase the driven sprocket, just requires a longer chain.

Isn't the most efficient use of the chain or belt when it's as close to a prefect circle as possible? I would think you'd want to try and make the upper sprocket a bit larger if possible.

To make the top bigger you would have to make the bottom bigger and its allready close to the panel

I'd like to hear from people that have had it for some miles.

Increasing the top sprocket would gear it up an defeat the purpose unless you increased the bottom sprocket as well but space is an issue if you had to compensate too much.

I do like the idea of being able to adjust gearing though!! When i had my M1000 I geared it down and it made a huge difference

I like the idea of gearing down. I am not sure my Pro needs it though. I ride over 10,000 ft and do not find it overgeared.

I am concerned about belt durability on an already stressed system. You have removed contact area at the highest stress point, the top pulley.

How are they holding up?

I do like the idea of gearing down but would personally like the idler system better in that you can change ratios using one belt... IMHO but its a nice setup !!

I do know that it gears it up when you go bigger on top. Yep, get that.

For sure, there is an optimum balance point between too small of top gear and maximizing efficiency, without having to make the bottom gear too large.

rode with kurts gear down kit this weekend

well we rode solid the last 2 days playing with the gear down kit and clutching combos. All i can really say is it is a true game changer, as i read on one post it says my pro has no shifting issues, well i though the pro was an awesome sled as a stock set up, well that gear down kit and kurts clutching proved me wrong. It was phenominal not only watching it climb but feeling it rip yours arms. We ran the sleds with different combinations all day and found that with the gear down and clutch kit was amazing, flat out amazing. Especially when you could sit back and look at the changes in highmarks and the ridiculous track speed increases. Not only the awesome benefits there, but the belt temps were crazy. on the pvt side we saw belt temps from 30-60 degrees cooler on the sleds geared down and the cog belt on the sprockets running up to 40 degrees cooler on the gear down. and on one last note, polaris recommends that you break that belt in for 100 miles ish, well the ones on the kurts system we bolted them on and beat the holy crap out of them with rough harsh miles without showing any wear. I say its well worth any dollar amount put on it and if you are a backcountry hillsmasher you will not be disappointed
