12volt heat tape for carb heat

Has anyone tried using 12volt dc self limiting heat tape, thermostat and a carb blanket for carb heat on their snowbike? It uses about 3-6 watts power per foot.

The Ktm electric heaters are 35 watts and don't do dick all. At 6 watts per foot you would need 10 feet, at 3 watts 20 plus feet. Get a real coolant based carb heater and be done with it.

I got my whole engine blanketed not just the sides the back too with the carb the closed in there. Haven’t felt that I needed a carb heater, no problems all last season.

if you close it all in, that would work. otherwise coolant heat. those are your only options.
