121'' to 136" x 2" gearing confimation

I'm looking for more boondocking up and go. I'm thinking that An '05 600 XC SP stretched to 136" with 2" paddle gearing change from 22T gear top and 39T gear bottom with 74P chain to: '05 RMK specs of 19T gear top 39T gear bottom and 72P chain. ...Should give me the better low/mid range oompa? am I right??

vert700...you were right the first time. Just think about what is spinning (I like to think of it like a dirtbike)....the smaller the front tooth (top for snowmobiles), the more times is has to go around to spin the rear (bottom) gear....thus making it more responsive on the low and middle ranges. Also drops off faster on top. So, you were right the first time.

The other thing to respond to the original question is that the 2002 600RMK gearing (can't remember off the top of my head) would be a great starting point as it was a 136 that year (the last year that is was). Might be slightly higher, but like I said, can't remember off hand....

I just completed a similar conversion...2002 XC 600 to a 144" x 2" paddle track. I decided on a 21 tooth top sprocket and 41 tooth bottom sprocket. This puts the ratio around 1.96:1 slightly "higher" than that of the RMK. However, I was able to reuse the 74p chain...which saved about $70. Something to think about...

19/39 is what a 159 RMK pulls for gearing in the edge chassis. If your going from 22/ 39 to 19 39 your exactly correct it will give you more low end and mid range and take away some top end.

22/39 is a 1.72 ratio

19/39 is a 2.05 ratio (more agressive low end)

21/41 is a 1.95 ratio...

Im not real fond of spending twice the money just to run the 21/41. yes its more aggressive than stock and has a little more top speed but there is no sense in speeding extra money to buy 2 gears when you can buy just the one and have a very similar gear ratio. Since you already have the 39 gear and the correct chain just get the 19 tooth top gear and be happy with the improvement.

If you haven't boughten any new parts yet I would suggest you run the stock gearing and see if you are ok with it. With CVTs the idea of 'low/mid range oompa' is not very applicable. If you can run 22/39 without excessive belt heat then the clutches will take care of the rest.

But then again I'm not a fan of gearing down RMKs either.

2" Paddles

How did you get 2" paddles under a 121" to 136" stretched Edge?

My coolers run under the tunnel. Did you cut the track down for the coolers?
