Whats the point when the horsepower of the 800 2-stroke is more and the weight is less????
Intersting video still.
oh sorry i meant with the boost!!!! What are they starting the doo off with before boost???
reliablility, less maintance, less fuel, oil changes not check the gas fill the oil
Big John post some pics/vids when the beast will be done. (gonna be a looong wait)
Plain and simple, 4 strokes are too heavy for mountain riding. If they can offer a 4 stroke with a turbo or a super charger, then we'll be talking. Snowmobiling has always been power to weight. If you are looking for a stock sled and want to consistently get the high mark why would you buy a heavier sled with less power? It makes no sense to me. Don't get me wrong, being able to turn the key and go is nice but honestly, 2 strokes have become much more reliable, less tempermental, and they are only going to get better. Again if you turbo or super charge a 4 stroke it's a different story. Just my .02
They said the same thing about Moto-x a few years ago (k little more than a few) and today the 4 stroke dominates the track. They will likely get this dialed in too. I love my 2 stroke sled like I used to love my 2 stroke bike. Some day I hope to love a 4 stroke sled (for all the reason listed already) as much as I love to ride my 4 stroke rocket of a bike. It is the way of things...
I understand what you're saying here. We've all seen the change from 2 strokes to 4 strokes in moto x. But, I think that's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Moto x and deep powder mountain riding are two completely different animals IMO. I could be completely off here and I appologize for that, but I don't think you have to worry about burrying a bike in 2 feet of powder or staying a-float on 2 feet of powder to get to the top of a hill.
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of a 4 stroke mountain sled but they are going to have to figure out a way to get the right power to weight ratio before they can compete and I don't know if they will ever be able to come close to the power to weight ratio of a 2 stroke. I also think we'll see more 4 stroke mountain sleds in the future, there's no denying that but I don't believe they're going to be the future.
Alright, I'm going to stop beating this dead horse. I usually get a good laugh listening to everyone debating which stroke is better and which brand is better. I guess I don't know why we debate over it. Ride what makes you happy and enjoy the sport. I think we're all lucky to be able to go the places our sleds take us and to be able to see the things we see every ride.
