12 Nytro To Buy or Not To Buy?

I am interested in buying a new nytro and supercharger. But I have some reservations as to what may come out next year compared to what is available. I have an 09Summit X 800 154 and absolutely love it coming off an Apex mtn. Rode an 08 nytro 153 and thought it was a hoot but needed more power, it got stuck very easily but it was fun to ride.
I would like to be able to ride at home 1500' some of the time and out west most of the time 6000'+. I like the get on and ride of the 180 SC, but I am worried that won't be enough with the weight of the sled.

After reading it sounds like it would be nice to have an intercooler , blow off valve and ability to go to 220hp on pump gas. I don't want to mess with race gas at All! Could a guy opt for the stage I super and add a head shim for pump fuel in all types of riding situations?

I am debating ridng Summit one more year and then go back to Yammi. Changing jobs right now also makes me skeptical. I also seen I could buy a used Stage II pump fuel, but don't know if I could handle that much HP.
What do guys think?

If I was in the market for a Nytro, I'd be waiting to see what they pull out of their hat.

The sled that didn't pass emissions could be exactly what you are looking for. From my experience with my Nytro, 10lbs boost/210ish HP is more than enough to have a blast on this sled.

If you can get a great deal on a new 2012 Nytro with the OEM supercharger on it, GO FOR IT.

Its an easy upgrade from that to a full Stage One, and you can do it anytime you decide you need MORE power.

And anything that shows up mid season next year will likely be a collection of parts that you can retrofit onto your 2012 sled down the road. While we all hope that Yamaha will pull a rabbit out of it's hat and deliver the sled of our dreams, reality is, it doesn't exist until it's formally announced and released.

Ya, what one is better. S/C 0 LAG. Turbo smooth power better mpg. I know one thing i want a true 180hp.

I ordered a 2012 with the turbo - my dealer let me take up a 2011 withe the push turbo and it ripped. I did not get a chance to ride the SC, so I went with what I rode.

Range/mileage is a big deal to me - that was one of the factors I took into consideration.

ride a new pro rmk and you wont be ordering a yamaha.

Rented one for a day cause i thought about jumping ship to a TPro. Ill be on the Apex another year. It was a good sled and had a lot going for it but for me it was harder to ride then my Apex. Guys i ride with that have the Pros said just wait till it gets really deep and ride one. Well when the snow is really deep ive never ridden a better handling sled then the apex. Different strokes for different folks.

i got the apex as well and i personally didnt realize how hard it was to ride until i rode the pro. liked the power and flickablility. apex is a good machine though. wish i would have boosted it

No...you will be walking out or being towed out. The 800 is an explosion just waiting to happen...And the turbo is much better than the supercharger. It is free HP, whereas the super robs HP to run. I was worried about the lag over the super, but 2 friends ran the super, and could only keep up for the first20 and then I was gone.....02

I can ride with the pro and my sled is a stock 2010 163 im sure after turbo or s/c you can smoke them. There all good until you get 2000 miles and need a rebuild, and still owe 7k on your 2yr old sled, not for me... It is nice when they snap crackel and pop at different elevations:high5:

That is false, at least on the being towed part. The new pro motor is alot more reilable than the old 800 was. The older 800 was a ticking time bomb, and still is. The new pro motor is built and manufactured alot better.

i have a 2011 nytro with a push turbo 153 the track that came with it sucked!! i would get stuck on flat ground !!i put a challenger extreem 2.5 on ..like riding a different sled !! i don't get stuck anymore!!! what was yamaha thinking on that track ??? they are shooting themselves in the foot...don't they ride ? and the steering post gave me a back ache akward position...changed all that and its the best sled i have ever had !!! i dont miss my xp at all...

Not trying to ruffle feathers here but have you considered a new cat 1100 turbo? Comes turboed, great ride, good track, warranty and I think there around the same price as a stock nitro. Once again just a suggestion.

LOL, Yeah right, just look at the polaris pro forum tons of them are blowing up....and the ones that havent its only a matter of time until they will. Good luck coming on the yamaha forum and trying to convince riders to buy a polaris. Yamaha engines last a LONG time and we like that. why would we buy a disposable polaris sled that one will be lucky to get 1500 miles out of before it grenades and wrecks your season

Thanks for all of the replies. I have ridden a pro but There are certain things I don't care for. I hate the running boards, to narrow and not very good side grippers. I also do not car for the handle bar hooks, they don't seem practical for anything except keeping your hand from sliding off. The Pro would be in my future if it had more HP in Stock form. The running boards and handlebars I could change out later.

I think I may go ahead and snowcheck a nytro SC 162 if I sell my XP this weekend.
