100gal truck bed fuel tank ???

Im planing a long trip to ak and bc and want to have lots of sled fuel i think I'm going to put a 96 gal L shaped fuel tank in front of my sled deck and fuel it up with 92 un-ethanal so we don't have to run to town all the time and don't have to worry about bad gas

----any experience with tanks like this

--- should i add any additives to the tank to keep gas fresh

One of my buddies has a 50 gal. in his cummins. It's nice to not have to stop all the time but be prepared for a sore a$$.

I have a 100 gal. in my duramax for fueling up tractors. Always thought about cleaning it out in the winter time for clear fuel or gas.

This is true but he's talking about using it to fill sleds not his truck!

I have the 110gallon L shaped tanks on 4 of my trucks. They all currently have diesel in them but 1 of them I used to have unleaded for my toys.
The only thing I can think of that might give you trouble is the pump in the cold. I have 3 different kinds. 2 @ 12 volt and 1 hand crank. The O-rings shrink up in the cold and doesn't seal very well to prime. Some days they work great and others they take awhile to prime. I rebuild them every other year and that helps a lot.

Another thing to be mindful of is when the tank is 1/2 full or less. It will slosh and cause a delayed sway in the truck. Nothing bad, just a different feeling that takes some getting used to.

Treatment shouldn't be needed unless it's going to sit a while.

Also if the tank's had diesel in it before, make sure you clean the crap out of it. I've used acetone before.

Good luck.

Tank

Bought a used 110gal. round KW tank, made a aluminum cradle on 4" alum.box skid so it can be moved from truck to truck,12v carter fuel pump aerospace filter, and hydraulic hose quick connects, power feed from 4way trailer plug with toggle switch,1/4turn ball valve shut off..Under $300.00:D

thanks

what pump brand do you use?

It costs less if you fuel up 5 gallons at a time?

What? I don't imagine it would? :face-icon-small-con That would be a horrible idea. I was talking about not having to stop every few hours to fill.

I see what you mean about using it to fill sleds now. Not a bad idea at all.
