10 D8 top end sputter

Hey guys. Took my sled out for a rip today and it has developed some issues. It started to sputter above 7000rpm when in the powder. I just put E3 plugs in and NGK wires. I also cleaned the clutches and exhaust valves. I'm running 94 oct chevron with no ethonal. Any ideas?

Change the fuel filter and look for powder being sucked into the air box somewhere.

If that doesn't do it, pull the exhaust valves and inspect the pistons for skuffing

The fuel filter has 1 ride on it. I taped the seam in the air box and sealed off the headlights. I don't think that there is any snow getting in any more. The pistons are scuffed but I still have 120# compression.

Even though you have 120 in it the skuffed pistons are the problem. That was the big indicator on 08s and 09s.

I picked up a mnt tk kit today. Not impressed with it tho. They only supply one base gasket. I'm supposed to re use my old one.

mine is doing the same only its gotten worse, wont idle kind of back fires at low rpm tach is toping out at around 7800 instead of 8100 like before. im not sure the condition of he fuel filter tho I bought the sled used last season and rode it 4 times and about 10 times this season.

just pulled the mag side power valve, that piston is trashed
