'10 Assault, running weird today....

I'll try to keep this short but not leave out any info:

Went for a ride today on my '10 Assault (Snowy Range, pkg lot at 9500')....all stock except for the exhaust valve lines plugged and a PC5 with DTR stock map load. This is not the first ride with this setup. Sled worked great until about 2 pm, then when I was approaching a jump and got on the gas, Chk Eng light flashes and major bog (no power). Shut it down, restarted, ran good until I got above 6500ish RPMs, then Chk Eng light and limp mode again. I disconnected the non-Ethanol plug, no change. So, I limped back to the truck...got stuck on a hill (not enough power to get up the hill)...rolled back to the bottom, swapped plugs, made it (still in limp mode) over the hill and all the way back to the truck.

Once I got back to the truck, I swapped belts, unplugged the PC5, and started it up to troubleshoot. Sled would not idle, but after a momentary couple flashes of Chk Eng light, it ran hard and pulled 7800 RPMs on a couple trial runs. I put the PC5 back in (non Eth plug still un-plugged), and again a couple momentary Chk Eng light flashes but then solid runs through the RPMs with no issues....sled still wouldn't idle or go into reverse.

Get it home (5,000') and started it, idled low (around 1000 RPMs), but went into reverse so I could unload it. No abnormal lights or function other than the lowered idle (typically idles around 1500 at the house).

My plan: pull the exhaust valves and check out the pistons....maybe change the fuel filter....?? Not sure what could have caused this, my thoughts are fuel quality?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

test your stator, it sounds like it lost the 5 pole crank trigger...(you can test it by unplugging the wire harness and using a high quality ohm meter...)

some where on here last season was a thread showing what the readings are supposed to be,,,,

I didn't count how many flashes I got, but there was no discernable pattern, just a continuous flashing of the light all the way back to the truck.

As for the stator, I appreciate the heads up. I'll do some research on that. What exactly is the "5 pole crank trigger" and what's its purpose?
