Got the first day of the year in yesterday. Headed up to VP for the classic "test and tune" run. Luckily was alot more testing then tunning!

Snow was still thin with alot of hidden landmines. We managed to avoid any direct hits even though we strayed from the trail more than we planned ;) Overcast most of the day with flatlight, the sun kept thinking about breaking thru but never did.

Watched a couple of guys banging the Bowl as we cringed waiting for implosion. After a mishap and a little time spent getting down the hill we thought they were done. But sure enough straight back up to find the next rock. :beer;

We found a few nice powder stashes and a few untracked logging roads with plenty of fresh to get some turns in and clear out the cobwebbs.

Boondock should have a few pics...

For sure need some more snow before anything is set up for some real riding but getting the sleds out sure felt good!!!

snow----snow----snow----

Never know how far they may have traveled to sled and you gotta take what you can get I guess?

Have a few shots but nothing worth much.

Lots of rocks and stumps... Think I will stay home for a little while. Just not worth it and Vail Pass is a ZOO! Was nice to get out for sure though :beer;

I was up there yesterday as well. found quite a few hidden powder stashes and didn't find a single rock thank god knock on wood...Was a good day over all...there were tons of trucks up there but we didn't see hardly anyone all day....:D

I agree a ton of rigs in the lot.

We parked by the turn around and it was funny how many sleds came flying down and reving it thru the turn around then back up to their trucks?

Not too bad once you got out there though.

Yeah we got there at 815iah and where almost the last truck to back in on the north side of the road, but yes I maybe saw 5 sleds once I got about 4 miles or so back into the thick of things.

How is the new beast????

Details!

The dragon was down 2-300 rpm, but still a real strong runner. Curious to ride that thing once it's all the way tuned in!

Way impressed at how little actual tuning he had to do to get it to run smooth, a little clutching & that thing will be pull & go, pretty sweet!

I'll post some pics from yesterday later, we set off a big slide (6+ foot crown) but were a safe distance by the time it got rolling. Fun day all in all

I don't know what the peak rpm was when you rode it but, once I stopped looking at egts all day, I pulled up the rpm on the sled and it was only pulling 7k. I didn't start looking at actual rpm until we started the cornice jumping. If I can get the hill climb rpm to 8 or 8200, it will scream.

I was up there on Sat with some new guys, they had a blast. We found a few rocks, rivers, trees, ect... We hooked up with BlackCloud2k (i think) and rode through lime creek with the new guys, they did better than expected.

I saw your sled but we were driving by.

It was crazy how many people had to do a parking lot pass to the turn around then spin it around and head back up where they came from and get on it :rolleyes::rolleyes:
Wouldn't people want to ride on more than 2" of snow in the lot?
Somethings I will never understand :p

Sweet B-

Glad you are back on the snow and all rehab'd up :) Be sure to post pics for us non-riders this season.

Next year will be a different story.......

Knee seems good, looks like I will just have to deal with some swelling this first year..standard.

Plenty of pics and vids for all!

I like how you have already put a 1 year end to this rest...even though that seems too long for me ;) :beer;
