No as long as everyone knows and says when asked that there isn't anyone that has organized it and everyone is just here to ride and have fun.
There may be issues with Rambo come lunch time? There wasn't the last 2 years
When Mike first started I could get behind his enforcement of the stickers and the 14 day camping limit which was badly need at Kebler Pass and in the greater Gunnison area

Well that blows. I was looking forward to coming up there Sunday. GV Powersports is doing something similar on GMesa Sunday. I just figured your event would be a little less insane that a Junction related event.

Did you know you can't camp on FS land if you do not have a permanent mailing address? (and it is a felony misdemeanor punishable with 10yrs jail and 100k fine)
Did you know it is illegal to conceal carry (with permit) on FS lands
Did you know the USFS can issue a citation for a traffic violation anywhere in the county?
Did you know your fuel wood permit needs to be visible from the rear of the vehicle and if obstructed at all you can be sighted even if a stop proves that you have a fuel wood permit?
Did you know while out on the trail if you don't stop for him he can cite and impound your sled for fleeing?
Did you know there is a 300ft allowance for you and I traveling on or near wilderness? well there is but it is 300ft back onto none wilderness with this guy "you were heading for the wilderness until you seen me"

funny you should mention that, he recently made that comment to use that it is illegal to film or photograph even yourself should it appear anywhere in an advertisement or magazine that you could be fined for not having a permit.
As far as the forum ride is concerned nobody has paid anyone for any services
The only money that might change hands on FS property is at the Y during lunch and that is by "donation" Snotrackers are non profit and it shouldn't be an issue.
Plenty of complaints but the FS istaking a hard line on all forms of travel and use within the forest, for years there was a "lack of enforcement and conformance." The forest service is cutting services and stepping up law enforcement in an effort to offset budget cuts.
Don't think for a minute this guy only harasses sledders and motorized users he is all over the campers, hikers, bikers, hunters, fishermen and rafters it is a full on blitz the last 12-18 months.
All user groups have been issued warnings about gatherings of 40 people or more on federal lands require permits

It is incorrect that you can not carry concealed on USFS land. The states laws apply in this case. You can open carry, and you can carry concealed with a permit. National Parks are another story, not sure where that one is right now. It is illegal to carry on a snowmobile however, that is a CO state law.
Having a CCW now for 5yrs this is the first time I am aware of this being state law
I also help instruct CCW course's and will be checking into this, I am unaware of "any" vehicle related restriction regarding CCW

OBTAINING A PERMIT AND THE HANDGUN SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED
CONCEALED:
(I) THE HANDGUN IS IN THE POSSESSION OF A PERSON WHO IS IN A
PRIVATE AUTOMOBILE OR IN SOME OTHER PRIVATE MEANS OF CONVEYANCE
AND WHO CARRIES THE HANDGUN FOR A LEGAL USE, INCLUDING
SELF-DEFENSE; OR
(II) THE HANDGUN IS IN THE POSSESSION OF A PERSON WHO IS
LEGALLY ENGAGED IN HUNTING ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE STATE.
Yet some more interesting and contradictory regulations reguarding hunting and snowmobiles this C&P from 2009 big game proclamation
IT’S AGAINST THE LAWTO:
1. Have a loaded (in the chamber) rifle or shotgun in or on any motor
vehicle. Muzzleloading rifles are considered unloaded if percussion cap or
shotshell primer is removed, or if powder is removed from flashpan. It is
illegal for anyone to have a loaded electronic-ignition muzzleloader in or on
a motor vehicle unless the chamber is unloaded or the battery is disconnected
and removed from its compartment.
2. Carry firearms (except handguns) on an OHV during deer, elk,
pronghorn antelope and bear seasons unless they are unloaded in the
chamber and magazine. Firearms (except handguns) and bows carried
on an OHV must be fully enclosed in a hard or soft case.
Scabbards or cases with open ends or sides are prohibited. This does
not apply to landowners or their agents who carry a firearm on an
OHV to take depredating wildlife on property they own or lease.
3. Hunt carelessly or discharge a firearm or release an arrow disregarding
human life or property.
4. Operate or ride a snowmobile with a firearm unless it's completely
unloaded and cased, or with a bow unless it’s unstrung or cased. Compound
bows must be cased, not unstrung.
Ouray is correct and it appears illegal in one state statue and ok in 2 others.
Laws governing concealed/open carry while on a snowmobile are contradicting and open for interpretation IMO
The next group will be informed of the contradicting laws and they can make their own call.

The highlighted #4 is precisely why my firearm stays in the truck when I ride. That is waaay to clear in front of the wrong judge.
I have hunted elk from a sled in the late season here before without any problems, in 2007 it was the only way you could get off the road and get anywhere near where the elk were.
