Boy am I glad that I went south to buy my boat this summer when it was at par. A friend of mine was supposed to do the same thing but decided to wait until next spring. Maybe boat pirces will be cheaper with people dumping toys but money won't be cheaper.

If you have some money and want a toy it should be a great time to buy them!

LOL, might be bad for buying sled parts, but in the big picture we (Canadians) are better off.

Listen to Darko people.....................he knows. It is much better for our economy, for the dollar to be lower than the us. We don't want it too low, like in the $.70's but in the $.80's is just fine. You watch, things will start to turn around.

I think it is better for Alberta's economy, for a lower dollar. Makes our oil more competitive and is better for the oil sands. I guess the dollar dropping today set some kind of record for that amount of drop in one day.
Just sucks for vacations south of the border!!

85 cents would be about right...

I work in the marine industry... supply the boat and yacht builders...

When the buck was worth 65 cents, those were the days in our industry...
Big boats (125-140') are half labour, and half materials to build... and when the boat is worth 18-28 million, and half of that money is at 1/3 off, its a pretty good deal. There were over half a dozen yachts over the 85' length being built or refitted, just in the Vancouver area....
Every third day of labour was free!

Then it was every fourth, then fifth, then 6th, etc.... then pooooof! it was gone, except for a few builders.

Maybe it will start up again...and the movie industry will come back.
